The Big Bang Theory’s Amy Farrah Fowler (played by Mayim Bialik) was known for her intelligence, often being a match for Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons). What some fans may not realise is that Bialik has more in common with her CBS character than it may first seem. In fact, she is one of the most intelligent stars in Hollywood.

What is Mayim Bialik's IQ?

While not an original member of The Big Bang Theory cast, Bialik's Amy soon established herself as one of the most popular characters in the series.

First being introduced in the season three finale, she was the perfect match for Sheldon.

Meeting through a dating app, the two quickly hit it off, with their relationship going on to be the heart of the series for many viewers.

It all led to the episode, The Bow Tie Asymmetry, the season 11 finale, helping wrap the series up nicely before the 12th and final season.

The pair tied the knot during the season 11 finale, causing more than a few fans to shed a tear before the credits hit. 

Amy has a doctorate degree in neurobiology from Harvard University, which was in fact inspired by Bialik’s own, real-life degree.

As a qualified neuroscientist, the star first got her PhD in 2007 from the University of California in Los Angeles.

Before this, she got her Bachelor of Science degree from the same university in 2000.

She also got a degree in Hebrew and Jewish Studies from UCLA in the same year, before being accepted into both Harvard and Yale.

While her exact IQ has never been revealed, she has become known as one of the most intelligent stars in all of Hollywood.

She has juggled her acting and education for years, originally working as a child star in shows such as Webster, Molloy, and Blossom.

More recently, she can be seen in the series Call Me Kat, a Fox series focusing on a woman that decides to spend all her savings on opening a cat café.

In 2005, Bialik decided to return to acting and move away from her studies, eventually leading her to get the now-iconic role in The Big Bang Theory.

Speaking to Hollywood Life, the star opened up on how being trained as a scientist has impacted her acting career.

Bialik explained: “Once you kind of are trained as a scientist, you see things from a scientific perspective, much like if you went to art school and you see the world in shades and colours and angles.

“I guess I have a different view on things. So, even when I’m acting can psychoanalyse people in my head all the time.

The Big Bang Theory often saw its characters deal with real-life equations, maths problems, and more, which would have been made easier with the star’s education.

After 12 seasons, the beloved series came to a close in 2019, but it does live on through the prequel series Young Sheldon.

In fact, Bialik even made a voice cameo in the show back in 2020, with the possibility of the character’s full return down the line.

The Big Bang Theory is available to watch on CBS in the USA and Netflix in the UK.
