A post is being widely shared on social media claiming that Mr. Bean died recently. The post even gives condolence messages to Rowan Atkinson – the British actor who played the Mr. Bean character. Let us fact-check the claim made in the post.

The same claim of Rowan Atkinson’s death has been going around on social media since 2012, and had been debunked by news outlets ever since. Hence, the claim made in the post is FALSE.

When we searched on the internet, we could not find anything that confirms Rowan Atkinson – the British actor who played the Mr. Bean character – is dead. If such a thing would have happened, news agencies around the world would have reported the same.

Official accounts of Mr. Bean on Facebook and Twitter do not mention anything about the death of Rowan Atkinson.

The same claim of Rowan Atkinson’s death has been going around on social media since 2012. And had been debunked by news outlets (here and here) ever since.

AFP had written a fact-check article about the same claim when it went viral in May 2021. A spokesperson for PBJ Management – a talent agency that manages Rowan Atkinson – confirmed to AFP that he was alive.

To sum it up, the claim that Rowan Atkinson – the person who played the Mr. Bean character – died recently, is not true.
