A young boy finds out he is allergic to The Nuts at his best friend's birthday party. When the doctor tells him, You + nuts = disaster, the boy worries that he will never be able to eat good food again. The Nuts, he finds out, are a sneaky bunch and hide out in many types of yummy treats. How will he ever get rid of The Nuts? And why won't they just take a vacation? The Day I Met The Nuts is not only a food allergy story; it is a book for any child who has ever had to encounter a scary challenge or major change in his or her life. This story sprinkles in a little seriousness, stirs around some humor, and tosses up big imagination to serve one empowering story that will help and entertain children for generations. And parents and children can feel good about reading this story, knowing that portions of the proceeds from this book help support organizations that increase awareness and are working to find a cure for food allergies Read more Report an issue with this product Previous slide of product details

5.0 out of 5 stars allergic son loves this book
Reviewed in the United States on 23 April 2014Verified Purchase This book is a great story about a child becoming newly diagnosed with a peanut allergy. It goes through the exposure (ar a birthday party) to the epi shot at the doctor, to having to get new food at home, and even to the allergy free table at school. The story is funny while still being educational. After reading this book for several months with my son, we decided to get it for his kindergarten class. All the kids enjoyed it, and it is a frequently picked book during reading time. Recommended for ages 4-8 or so. Read more Report

5.0 out of 5 stars Food Allergic Son & Friends Love this Book!
Reviewed in the United States on 8 October 2013Verified Purchase Love this book for our food allergic family, easy to understand, has great teaching points and love the little animals all throughout. We recently sent a copy to The Johns Hopkins Children's Center where we support Food Allergy Research through Dr. Robert Wood. Awesome to know that the author of this book donates 45% of proceeds for the same cause and has the book there for patients to read during their visits! Get this book for your child, family members, and classrooms! Read more Report

3.0 out of 5 stars okay but not one of our favorites
Reviewed in the United States on 11 April 2015Verified Purchase While I appreciate ANY books about food allergies, this one was just okay. I found the illustrations kind of boring and evidently three and two year olds did too. They really enjoy books but this one just didn't capture their attention. Maybe it's better suited for young elementary students versus toddlers. I've tried to read it to them three or four times but now it sits on a shelf. I may donate it to a local classroom to promote food allergy awareness. Read more Report

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for school age kids
Reviewed in the United States on 16 May 2011Verified Purchase From our blog: safeFoodForMe.comI liked this book very much. The illustrations are well done and the author has a light touch with a serious topic. It captures a child's sadness and frustration at having to avoid foods with nuts. I love how the mom is the hero - coming through with a cart full of safe food that includes chocolate! The lonely peanut free table at school also turns into a positive gathering place.Thumbs up also from our 9 year old son with food allergies. Read more Report
