What is Bullying?

Bullying is a worldwide problem in schools, just like the one you are in. It can lead to negative consequences and fear. Bullying can consist of many actions such as teasing, taunting, threatening, hitting, and stealing. A bully may be completing these acts in person at school or online in what is called Cyber Bullying. All bullying is bad and can be very hurtful. Do you know of a bully at your school? Are you being bullied? Do you know someone being bullied? Do what is right. Think about it and get an adult to help you take that bully down. Teach that bully to be a buddy, not a bully. Picture

How does Bullying Start?

Here are the facts. Did you know that almost 20-30% of bullying incidents take place in involving students you age? It is true. So many kids your age are bullying and being bullied. I think that means it is a problem that we need to fix together! Have you noticed at your school that those who tend to be bullied are often shy or physically weaker than your other peers? It is true. Most bullies like to target peers of this nature because they are less likely to seek revenge on the bully. Keep your eye out and stick up for those who need you! Picture

How does Bullying Make People Feel?

Bullying is one of the most hurtful things that can be done to a person. Not only does it make the victim feel upset, sad, depressed, left out, alone, or worthless, but it can also make a person live in constant fear. It can cause a victims schoolwork and health to suffer and make a student feel very anxious. Bullying can also make someone feel very stressed and have a low self-esteem. Both are not healthy for anyone. But, this is just in regards to the person being bullied. Bullies can suffer too from their bad habit of bullying. Bullies can head down a bad path in life leading to violent behaviors later in life, be rejected by peers later in life, have a future criminal record, and fail out of school. All of these reasons can support why bullying must stop in school and everywhere. We want a better world. Picture

Who are the Bullies?

Bullies can be both girls and boys in your school. They can be outgoing kids and aggressive kids. Bullies all share common traits though. They like to dominate others, think of only themselves, make poor decisions, and not care about the feelings of others. They may seem mean and may like to push people around, but really inside the bully is insecure and only put others down to make themselves feel better. Make the bully feel better about themselves. What Can You Do?

If you are being bullied:1. Ignore the bully and walk away. Bullies will thrive on the reactions they can get out of you from bullying you. Be the better person. Walk away and don't give them what they want.2. Hold in your anger.Bullies want to control your emotions. They are mean because they want to make you mad and upset. Don't give in. Don't give them what they want.3. Don't get physical with the bully.If you choose to fight, you will be more likely to get hurt or get in trouble. Don't get in trouble, don't get hurt, tell someone what the bully is doing to you.4. Practice Confidence.Feel good about yourself and know that you are better than what the bully makes you out to be.5. Take charge of your life.Help take control of other people's emotions and stay true to yourself. Make yourself strong and show others that you are proud of you.6. Talk about it.Go to an adult or someone that can give you support and encouragement. This is a good time to let your frustrations out to someone that cares.7. Find your true friends.Stick to your true blue friends. The ones who do not spread the gossip or let the bullying happen to you.
