We're back with three of the most respected longtime collectors in the hobby: Stephen Ferzoco, Gene Park, and David Mandel! Who also happen to be three of the most popular guests we've had on the show!
All three are here to share their stories of "The Quest". Ranging from a single page...to trying to complete an entire issue. Not all have been successful (yet), but lots for the rest of us to learn, either way.
Listeners love the collecting stories, and here are three all-timers. Thanks to Steve, Gene, and David for sharing! Enjoy!

It's been a while but we make up for it with a two-parter! We kick things off with our annual catchup from San Diego Comic-Con with Heritage Auctions head honcho, Jim Halperin. There's arguably no one more important to the original art market than Jim, and there are few in his position who are as open. The NEW MUTANTS #98 cover, the new increased buyer's premium, the future of the hobby, and more! We touch on it all! Thanks Jim! In part two, we pay a return visit to longtime collector, Richard Martines, on his home turf of Oahu. We dig into the alleged private sale of a DARK KNIGHT RETURNS page for $250K. A page that Richard happens to own and did not sell. Is there a forger at work out there? Also, Richard shares more collecting wisdom that listeners love! Thanks Richard!
And thanks to all our listeners...we don't put these out often, but we always try to make it worth your time. Enjoy!

If a fire is threatening your collection, what pieces do you save? How do you make impossible choices in an instant?
Hopefully you'll never have to face this collector's nightmare. But David Mandel did. Yes, we bring Dave back on the show one month after the LA fires. Hear what he did, what he saved first, and what he's learned from the experience. It's an edge-of-your-seat account with perhaps the world's greatest collection of original comic art and movie props at stake...thanks for enduring PTSD for our listeners, Dave! Plus, Daniel Warren Johnson joins us in a lighter discussion with Dave on comics, art, STAR WARS, and more! It's our third episode in two weeks...happy bingeing!

Just four days after our first episode of 2025, we're back with our second! You demanded to know which art was included in The Greatest Trade Ever Made...and this time, Gene Park and Tom Coker fill in the blanks! Plus, the fate of SANDMAN original art.
It's another 100% art-centric chat...thanks for listening, enjoy!

The first episode of 2025 has arrived! And it's a spicy one!
On location at OAX (Original Art Expo) in Orlando, FL, we welcome back popular guests Gene Park, Andy Robbins, and Yo Kuri for a roundtable discussion on OAX and the state of the hobby. But right before we were about to record, Gene and long-time supercollector Tom Coker pulled off what may be the biggest blockbuster trade this hobby has ever seen. So of course we had to rope Tom in, too! Hear it all now! Thanks and enjoy!

Our art drop for Nick Dragotta's ABSOLUTE BATMAN #1 last month set an absolute record for a modern comic...and shook the hobby to its core. Now, hear how it all went down, with two collectors who were there: Chris Killackey and Brant Boersma. Was it all folly, foolishness, FOMO? Or just another Felix drop? Listen and decide for yourselves! Thanks to Chris and Brant for risking ridicule and sharing their thoughts! Enjoy!

SDCC is the greatest spectacle in comics fandom. The Felix Comic Art Podcast is...a podcast about original comic art. But we're at SDCC! And we're bringing you a new episode! First up is Jim Halperin, co-founder and co-chairman of Heritage Auctions. It's his third time with us, and as before, he answers every question. He shies away from nothing. Pretty damn impressive for the most important man in the comic art market! Thanks, Jim! But there's more! We also bring back past favorite guests for an impromptu chat about oddball art we're all hoping to find. All tips on locating anything we talk about is welcome and appreciated!
Finally, DWJ just won Eisner Awards for Best Writer/Artist and Best Series for TRANSFORMERS. Arguably the two biggest Eisners a series can win...for a toy comic. Only DWJ. We had a comprehensive panel last month, and you'll get to hear it here. Congrats, Dan! A three-parter! Enjoy!

The Felix Comic Art Podcast proudly welcomes the Prince of All Media to the show...it's David Choe!

We're back! Thank you all for your patience during our break. But I believe with my latest guest, Ken Viola, that the wait was worth it.
What drives this podcast more than anything are the collector stories. Having been a collector since the 1950s, it's safe to say that Ken has witnessed and experienced more than most in this hobby. Not many can say they were friends with Steve Ditko, or got to hang Frank Frazetta's Egyptian Queen painting in their parents' home, or can lay claim to being the OG Alan Moore art collector. Or produce a documentary featuring Will Eisner, Frank Miller, Moebius, Neal Adams, Bernie Wrightson, and other comics legends. And that's just scratching the surface. We're going to bring Ken back down the road for part two...for now, enjoy your intro to Ken Viola!

"If you buy one or two nice pieces a year, in 20 years you'll have a great collection."
Words of wisdom from our esteemed guest, Richard Martines. A collector of over 40 years, listen in as Richard shares his experiences and insights from our crazy hobby. Listen and learn!
Part two is my appearance on the Pixels and Panels Podcast. Not quite Richard-level, but hey, we needed to fill out this episode!
Two hours of non-stop comic art talk, enjoy!

At San Diego Comic-Con 2017, we managed to secure a chat with the most influential figure in our hobby: Jim Halperin of Heritage Auctions.
At San Diego Comic-Con 2022...he returns.
And he saved a blockbuster scoop just for the occasion.
We follow up our talk with Jim with a round table breaking it all down. Joining me are veteran panelists Andy Robbins and Yo Kuri.
It's two straight hours of pure comic art conversations, like you'll get nowhere else. Enjoy!

The original art cover for Frank Miller's THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS #1 has just sold at auction for 2.4 million dollars...and who better to talk to us about it than the King of DKR art collectors, David Mandel. Hear Dave's take on the art, the auction, and what it all means for the OA hobby at large. As usual, Dave doesn't hold back! To the point where we may be asked to take this down. It's happened before. So listen while you can!
That's all in the first hour. As a bonus we've also included two recent podcasts from our friends Christian Monggaard and Casey Lau. Their guest? It's Dave again! So if you just can't get enough Dave, we've got FOUR more hours for you! Thanks to Christian and Casey for letting us share their shows!
It's DKR. It's Dave Mandel. Enjoy!

Two weeks on, and the record sale at auction is still what everyone's talking about. So The Felix Comic Art Podcast returns with Chuck Costas, THE hobby expert on SECRET WARS and G.I. JOE. And also personal friend of artist Mike Zeck. Chuck shares his insights on what went down exclusively here. Thanks Chuck! Part two is an episode of The Hyper Room, hosted by tech guru Casey Lau. Casey grills me on the hobby, the market, collecting, and all things original comic art. Thanks to Casey for allowing us to share it with our audience here. An extra-long episode this time out, enjoy!

Our first episode of 2022 features show regular Gene Park and a discussion centered around that beloved '80s fan-favorite, G.I. JOE #21! The reason? Because Gene owns the complete interiors...and the cover has just now hit auction!
We talk to Gene before and after the big event. And the auction is even bigger than we had anticipated...besides the huge sale of the G.I. JOE #21 cover, it also featured an absolute jaw-dropper: The record-setting $3.36 million sale of a single comic panel page. Of course, we had to talk about that, too!
We close out this episode with a chat I had with Danish author/film critic, Christian Monggaard (ROBERT CRUMB: I CAN'T DO PRETTY), on his podcast. We talk about all things comic art. Thanks to Christian for allowing me to share this with our audience!
Enjoy the show!

I told you the schedule would be sporadic...only this time, you didn't have to wait months for a fix. The latest episode of The Felix Comic Art Podcast is up! With popular show guests GENE PARK, ANDY ROBBINS, and LAMBERT SHENG! Our topic: The state of the comic art market!
We recorded the episode two weekends ago, right as the lastest Signature comic art auction from Heritage Auctions had concluded. The timing was right, because I've been wanting to talk to these guys for a while about the unprecedented rise in values over the past year or so. If you've been wondering, too, then this one's for you. Plus all the usual hobby insights from some of the sharpest collectors around. Thanks to my pals for joining me! And now enjoy the show!

The Felix Comic Art Podcast returns for June 2021 with a special guest: Pixar animator and art collector, Andy Beall. Andy is a veteran animator who got his start on the beloved classic, THE IRON GIANT. He was then recruited by the Charles Schulz estate to direct the PEANUTS special, HAPPINESS IS A WARM BLANKET, CHARLIE BROWN, as well as write and draw the original comic THE BEAGLE HAS LANDED, CHARLIE BROWN! But the bulk of his career has been at Pixar, where he was worked on countless favorites, starting with THE INCREDIBLES.. Besides being a guest on the show, though, Andy has done something special for fans and collectors: He has created a series of drawings featuring all of the iconic characters he’s been associated with. Including an absolutely gorgeous cover-quality piece for THE IRON GIANT. All of these will be available soon. But even more impressively, Andy has donated all of this art to benefit our charity, the Lu Family Fund. 100% of all proceeds from this sale will support cancer patients and their families via our fund. My gratitude to Andy for his incredible generosity. Please sign up for the newsletter on our site at www.felixcomicart.com to get all the details. Again, we will be making the drop announcement soon. Oh, and here’s a spoiler: Andy is one of the most prolific commenters on Comic Art Fans. If you don’t recognize his name, it’s because he posts under the pseudonym, “Kent Mansley”. If you have a CAF gallery, then you probably have a comment from Kent Mansley on one of your pieces. Whether he goes by Andy or Kent, I’m proud to call him a friend. Thank you, Andy!
BONUS: For those of you who missed my talk with TRADD MOORE at Comic Art LIVE! a few months ago, we've added it at the end so you can enjoy this VERY rare appearance by Tradd! And as an added bonus, we close out this episode with a chat I had with CAF's Bill Cox! Our longest episode to date, enjoy!

Our guest for this episode is Cristian Casares, who besides having experienced a lifetime's worth of collecting in a few short years, is also the fan behind the epic DARK KNIGHT RETURNS #1 recreation project. And if you want to hear all about Tradd Moore's SILVER SURFER: BLACK, Cristian played a major role in how that art got sold, too. All that and more...it's almost two hours of solid original art talk!

Surprise everyone, we’re back. I bet none of you were expecting another episode so soon.
Well, this one’s not a regular episode. This one’s more of a sneak preview. To introduce a special edition of the show that we’re calling SECRET STORIES OF COMIC ART. SECRET STORIES OF COMIC ART is the Felix Comic Art Podcast unleashed. I’ve recruited some of the biggest names in the hobby to assist with this project. If you’ve enjoyed the stories we’ve shared on the Felix Comic Art Podcast, then our SECRET STORIES OF COMIC ART series will share the stories that we couldn’t discuss publicly before. Until now. A few samples of what you'll hear: - Did a well-known collector once deprive himself of water for 24 hours prior to a notorious dealer coming to his home, because he was afraid he'd get ripped off if he had to go to the bathroom during the meeting? - Did a publisher once try to extort Frank Frazetta for a painting, and if he didn't get it, he would publish some of Frank's secret pornographic art he'd gotten his hands on? - What happens when the son of billionaire tries to buy $250K worth of art from you at a show with a check...but you don't know he's the son of a billionaire? - How about the first (and last?) ever interview with the mysterious megacollector known as "The Vacuum"? - And a whole lot more! So why are so many willing to share these private collecting and hobby stories now? Because SECRET STORIES OF COMIC ART is my fundraiser to benefit the cancer charity organization, PALTOWN. I want to thank my friends for helping me with this, and for opening up like never before to provide the best content possible. The SECRET STORIES OF COMIC ART series will only be available for those who have donated to PALTOWN. If you've already donated, you will be given access to everything. Every single episode. We already have five full-length episodes in the can, and are working on more! If you haven't donated, yet, it's not too late. We are offering multiple tiers, so you can have access to as many episodes, or as few, as you like. Please write me for more details. Our goal is to raise as much as we can for PALTOWN, so know that your tax deductible donations, at any tier, are greatly appreciated. For now, this one’s available for all listeners…it's "The Craigslist Story". Thanks everyone, talk soon. Felix www.felixcomicart.com- Download this Episode
