The struggle of powers and social position based on a fictional story historically set in the year 1882, The Gilded Age, came to an end in its first season and we can't wait to see the second season of this HBO hit.

What is the plot of The Gilded Age Season 1?

Basically in the first season of The Gilded Age we saw the socially established "old money" families led by Agnes Van Rhijn (Christine Baranski) and her sister Ada (Cynthia Nixon) taking on George Russell (Morgan Spencer), his socially ambitious wife, Bertha (Carrie Coon) and the "new money" entrepreneurs.

In addition, the presence of Marian Brook (Louis Jacobson), Agnes and Ada's niece, as well as Peggy Scott (Denee Benton), who is seeking a place in journalism as a black woman, have made for a must-see story.

Has the second season of The Gilded Age been confirmed?

Last February, the renewal of The Gilded Age for a second season was announced. Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of programming at HBO, was in charge of confirming the news.

"[Series creator] Julian Fellowes and the entire Gilded Age family have thoroughly captivated us with their tale of late 19th century New York City extravagance," Orsi said in a statement.

"Along with our partners at Universal Television, we couldn't be prouder to embark on a season two journey with this extraordinarily talented team," she added.

Which characters from the cast of The Gilded Age will we see again?

It is somewhat obvious to think that we will see the Russells again, as well as Marian Brook and Mrs. Agnes van Rhijn, and it was the actress who plays the latter character, Christine Baranski, who, without confirming the information, gave the biggest clue about the cast of the series.

"We're all hoping that it goes on. I could definitely, happily continue with this show and with these actors, and with this particular marvellous writer, Julian," Baranski told Town and Country.

When will The Gilded Age Season 2 release date be?

Although there is still no official announcement about the release date of the second season, we have some clues that allow us to imagine when we could enjoy the second season of The Gilded Age.

Considering that it was January 2022 when the first season premiered, it wouldn't be at all far-fetched for it to be until the spring of 2023 when the second season finally arrives.

In the meantime, all nine episodes of The Gilded Age Season 1 are available exclusively on HBO Max, after the final episode aired on Monday, March 21 at 9 p. m. ET.
