    Asa McCoy is Killed

    Asa McCoy was a Union soldier who got injured in battle during the Civil War. He left the war and returned home to Kentucky. While home in Kentucky, he was murdered. No one was ever charged with his murder but it was led to believe that Confederate soldier Devil Anse Hatfield was the culprit.

    Randle McCoy accuses Floyd Hatfield of Stealing his Hog

    Randle McCoy accused Floyd Hatfield on stealing his hog. The court acquited Floyd Hatfield. This ruling brought major tension between the two families.

    Devil Anse Hatfield Wins Land Disput

    Devil Anse Hatfield won a land dispute from Randall McCoy's cousin Perry Cline. The McCoy's believed the court decision to be unjust.

    Roseanna McCoy and Johnse Hatfield Meet

    Johnse Hatfield and Roseanna McCoy met at a community event and fell in love. They wanted to get married but their families forbid it. Roseanne moved in with the Hatfileds and became pregnant.

    Roseanna and Johnse's Baby Dies

    Roseanna left the Hatfield's and was sent to stay with her aunt Betty. The baby died and Johnse married Roseanna's cousin Nancy Mccoy.
  • Ellison Hatfield gets murdered by McCoy Boys Aug 9, 1882

    Ellison Hatfield gets murdered by McCoy Boys

    At an election day celebration in Kentucky, Ellison Hatfield (Devil Anse's brother) got into a fight with some of the McCoy boys. One of the McCoy boys stabbed Ellison multiple times and shot him. The Hatfield's took and in prisoned the McCoy boys in West Virginia. Devil Anse said that the Mccoy boys would live, only if Ellison survived. Unfortunately for the Mccoy boys, Ellison died and the Hatfields took them back to Kentucky where they tied them to trees and shot and killed them.

    The McCoys seek Justice

    In 1887 the McCoys try to have the Kentucky governor extradite the Hatfield's for the murder of Randle McCoy's sons.
  • Hatfield's Burn the McCoy Home Jan 1, 1888

    Hatfield's Burn the McCoy Home

    The Hatfields raid and burn down Randle McCoy's family home in Kentucky. Two of the McCoy children are killed and Randle's wife is brutlaly injured.
  • The U.S. Supreme Court Decision Sep 1, 1888

    The U.S. Supreme Court Decision

    Some of the Hatfields were captured and taken to Pike County Kentucky and tried for the murders of Randle McCoy's children. The captured Hatfields were hanged or sentenced to life in prison.
  • The Feud Ends May 1, 1891

    The Feud Ends

    Devil Anse Hatfield decided not to seek retalition for the courts convictions and death of his family. His decision not to seek revenge finally ended the famous feud.
