Jason Momoa just turned 40 years old, and he's living his best life. He and his wife, Lisa Bonet, are the epitome of #RelationshipGoals, they share two beautiful children (one just might be Momoa's mini-me), he's a complete Game of Thrones superfan, and he's oh-so-confident in his "dad bod." So what could make the star that much more intriguing? His tattoos. While Momoa rocked a bunch of fake ink for his Aquaman role in 2018, he has six of his very own tatts that seem to all hold a level of personal significance. So, as forever stans of the A-lister and appreciators of cool ink, we've taken a look at all of Momoa's tattoos—and what they mean.

His children's signatures on his chest

First up, we'll start with the tattoo Momoa has on his sculpted pectoral, because why not? For those who have been lucky enough the see the star shirtless, you may have spotted some red markings on his chest. It turns out, they're the signatures of his two children: Lola, 12, and Nakoa-Wolf, 10. We're melting, too.

"Pride of Gypsies" on his inner arm

If you look closely, you'll spot the phrase "Pride of Gypsies" on the actor's inner forearm. The tattoo holds sentimental value because it's the name of the production company he founded in 2010. Oh, and it's his Instagram handle @prideofgypsies.

The tribal shark teeth pattern on his forearm

The most prominent of of Momoa's tattoos is a nod to his Hawaiian roots, as he revealed in 2013, it's a tribute to his 'aumakuea. In Hawaiian mythology, the 'aumakuea is believed to be a family spirit or guardian who dies and comes back to life in a different form to protects its ancestors.

The A-lister's 'aumakuea is a shark, and the pattern of repeating rows of triangles we see on his arm represent shark teeth. “It’s supposed to take the darkness out of your heart and bring the light in,” he said.

The skull above his thumb

Yes, this is a close-up of Jason Momoa's hands because we mean business here at OprahMag.com. If you look closely just above the star's right thumb, you'll see a small tattoo of a skull.

No word on the significance of said morbid tatt, but the Game of Thrones actor has already made his love for skulls clear with his accessory choices.

"Diablo" on his middle finger

In a 2014 Instagram post, Momoa revealed that the scrawl on his middle finger that reads "Diablo" was an ode to his best friend who had died the previous year.

“Etre toujours ivre” on his forearm

And last but not least we have yet another forearm tattoo that not-so-simply reads "etre toujours ivre.” Translation? It's French for "to always be drunk." For the Guiness-loving actor, this is the most on-brand tattoo we ever did see. Though it could also mean drunk on love... on life, etc.

In 2016 he revealed that along with his stepdaughter Zoë Kravitz, he got the ink while filming Game of Thrones.
