An English librarian called Evelyn Carnahan becomes interested in starting an archaeological dig at the ancient city of Hamunaptra. She gains the help of Rick O'Connell, after saving him from his death. What Evelyn, her brother Jonathan and Rick are unaware of is that another group of explorers are interested in the same dig. Unfortunately for everyone, this group ends up unleashing a curse which been laid on the dead High Priest Imhotep. Now 'The Mummy' is awake and it's going to take a lot more than guns to send him back to where he came from.

Per Variety, Nicolas Cage is in talks to star in Brian De Palma's The Untouchables: Capone Rising, a prequel chronicling Al's rise to power and his relationship with nemesis Detective Jimmy Malone.... Maria Bello is replacing Rachel Weisz as aventuress Evelyn O'Connell in the third Mummy movie.... Guy Ritchie will return to his Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels roots with Rocknrolla, an action comedy about "a dangerous crime lord, a sexy accountant, a corrupt politician and a band of petty thieves".... At the Movies: Fraser In, Weisz Out of Mummy 3

Per Variety, Brendan Fraser has finally signed on the dotted line for The Mummy 3, but leading lady Rachel Weisz took a big, fat pass. The follow-up, penned by Smallville's Miles Millar and Al Gough, features Jet Li as the baddie.... Producers Dino and Martha De Laurentiis are out to reinvent Barbarella as "a free, modern gal who survives in a futuristic world through her intelligence, fighting skills and sexuality." Hate to say it, but Lindsay Lo just found a franchise (intelligence can always be faked).... Forest Whitaker has joined The Great Debaters, a fact-based drama directed by and featuring Denzel Washington as a small-town college debate-team coach.
