The Only Country Whose Name In English Ends In H
Maybe your like

I commend Jeopardy champion Amy Schneider for an amazing 40-game winning streak, during which the contestant racked up more than $1.3 million. It was a fun travel question that proved perplexing and finally led to defeat.
Travel-Related Final Jeopardy Question Stumps Jeopardy Champion (And Me Too)
I grew up watching Jeopardy and still watch it when I can (though I have no TV at home). It’s a fun game and while never the same without Alex Trebek, former champion Ken Jennings has done well as its new host. I tried out for Jeopardy once as a kid…didn’t make it. Maybe one day I’ll try again. I’m not exactly a trivia master, but I can hit the buzzer quickly and would love to be on the show one day.
Anyway, it’s always fun to watch contestants rack up win after win and Amy Schneider won 40 straight games before finally coming up short on a travel-related question.
“The only country whose name in English ends in h”
You could argue this is an English or geography question, but I’d put it into the realm of travel.
And full disclosure: it took me more than 30 second to mentally make my way through the world and arrive upon Bangladesh, a country I had the pleasure of visiting in 2017:
- Booked: Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Iberia
- How is Biman Bangladesh Airlines in Economy Class?
- Review: Biman Bangladesh 737-800 Economy Class Bangkok to Dhaka
- My Dhaka Transit Hotel Courtesy of Biman Bangladesh Airlines
- The Police Chase After Me in Dhaka
- Review: Biman Bangladesh “Maslin” Business Lounge Dhaka
- Review: Biman Bangladesh 777-300ER Business Class from Dhaka to London
To Amy Schneider, congratulations. Schneider’s last Final Jeopardy question reminds me that I need to get back to Dhaka and review Biman’s new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. I cannot believe my review is almost five years old already. Safe travels with all your winnings!

Pretty easy answer – I knew it immediately. Where’s my money?

I was able to identify it too, but not sure if it was strictly within 30 seconds and if I would have been able to get it under the stress of a TV studio.
David ReplyJanuary 27, 2022 at 2:53 pm
The question did give another clue saying that it was one of the 10 most populated countries.

Fun fact: my brother was a 5-time Jeopardy! champ back in the days when they kicked you off after 5 wins. Google “Babu Srinivasan Jeopardy” and I think you’ll be able to pull up the episodes on YouTube. One of my more memorable trips was flying out to LA to watch his Tournament of Champions taping at Sony Studios. Having to ask for 2 days off not even a month after starting my first job out of college was – awkward – but luckily my supervisor thought it was cool and encouraged me to go.
Anyway, I think I would have figured out the question to this one, but I don’t know that I would have come up with it in 30 seconds.

He is still far more famous for his time on Seinfeld. I still think it was wrong he got so upset over a simple misunderstanding about his visa application being lost in the mail.

Best part of this is reading your trip reports on Biman linked at the bottom. They were before my time here! Great stuff…

Lol. I mentally walked through 100+ countries. Named everything else in Asia. Forgot Bangladesh.

Bummer she lost…It made it more interesting to tune in nightly to see her win again..Now back to a new winner every day or 2….. No fun It was an easy question..Maybe she was tired of it all and the more shw won the more she would have to pay the state of Calif!!!!

Thanks to George Harrison and Biman, I knew that!

And by the way “she” is a he. Women should be embarrassed when they give it credit for any record. No different than the swimmer at Penn breaking records. It hurts achievements that real women have accomplished.

Observation regarding sports and entertainment in general: The Jeopardy! wiki page indicates that prize amounts have increased with inflation over time with the original value of Double Jeopardy clues at $100 in 1964 and increased ultimately to $1000 in 1984. Then subsequently increased to $2000 in 2001.
Alex Trebeck earned $15,000,000 annually at his death (perhaps due to advertising endorsements as well) but considering that it’s been 20 years since an update, it’s probably appropriate for an adjustment at this time.
Sometimes sports can be quite fair to the players in that some pro players have tens of millions of dollars in their contracts earning more than the coach. Other times, such as the minor leagues, they barely get paid to show up. The Olympics is especially unbalanced: The committee gets millions (billions?) in revenue but only issues about $37,000 for a gold medal and the rest of the unmedaled get nothing.

Everyone on here keeps misgendering the contestant, who is clearly a biological male.

I forgot about Bangladesh too. I probably would think, hmmm is Utah a country? Haha

Some really insecure and bigoted people get their panties in a wad when a good, kind, decent woman gets some justified adoration. Amy brought a lot of smiles and cheer during her run on Jeopardy!. My thanks to her.
