The new Overwatch hero is poised to make their debut. The 32nd is about to join the cast, and it is officially happening sooner than you think. While she’s already available and playable on the PTR on PCs, the Overwatch Echo release date is April 14, 2020. She’ll be added via a free update, as usual.

After quite a bit of teasing and a reveal in mid-March 2020, Echo arrived on the PTR last month. The robot was created by former Omnica Corporation employee Dr. Mina Liao after she left the company as a result of the Omnic Crisis and wanted to show the value of artificial life. After joining Overwatch, she started the Echo project. However, she made them think it was an adaptive support robot, rather than one with an advanced AI that was learning from people all the time. McCree knew about this, which is why after Dr. Liao died and Echo was “retired,” he brought her back.

Overwatch’s Echo is actually a damage-type hero. She has a tri-shot gun, can use Sticky Bombs, and has a Focus Beam that specifically damages enemies with less than 50% health. She also can fly for a bit with Flight, and Glide when she’s coming in to land. To acknowledge her adaptability, her Duplicate skill lets her use one of one opposing team members’ abilities.

Overwatch is available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The Overwatch Echo release date is April 14, 2020.
