  • drcwhetzel (guest) Another rumor that follows the parallel forest is that the forest was originally planted to help prevent the wind damage from the dust bowl. People believe that it is haunted, and that there are satanic alters and things involved. You can go out and tour the place yourself and see that there are no alters or anything of the sort. Of course you are going to hear creaking above you in a forest, and I'll admait, any forest is really creepy at night! On the other hand it is a truly beautiful, peaceful place located in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. 18 years ago | reply | hide comment
  • lomo1968 (guest) I went today and found that it was not haunted or anything. The trees creak naturally due to the branches rubbing against one another. However, it was a little odd that all of my photos I took while in there were all fuzzy, but the ones I took before I went in were just fine - same camera and same lens were used. I was told that the indians say it is haunted, but I believe it is not. 15 years ago | reply | hide comment
  • GonzoBer (guest) There is in fact an alter-esk looking thing, but it is slightly North-East of the forest itself. It's about yards past the NE corner of the forest at the end of an established hiking path. As for the supposed blood on the rocks...well that's tall tale. The forest itself is quite an awe inspiring place though. I recommend all who hear of it go and take a look. If nothing else, it's great for some cool photos. 14 years ago | reply | hide comment
  • Roxanne (guest) The alter-esk thing has to do with mining which took place in the area many years ago. 11 years ago | reply | hide comment
  • Angela P (guest) THANK YOU for the truth - the mining - not the crazy. 9 years ago | reply | hide comment
  • Angela P (guest) It is not haunted... it is a beautiful piece of our National History - President Roosevelt had it planted. It is awe-inspiring and very peaceful. Please visit for yourself and enjoy! 9 years ago | reply | hide comment
