The preposition ‘chez’
To say ‘to’ or ‘at’ someone’s house or place of work, use the prepositioncloseA preposition is a word such as 'at', 'for', 'with', 'into' or 'from' which is usually followed by a noun or pronoun. They are used to show where something is in place or time. chez. It is often used in the expression chez moi to mean ‘at my house’, ‘to my house’ or ‘at home’. For example:
- Nous allons chez mes grands-parents. – We’re going to my grandparents’ house.
- Il a acheté du poisson chez le poissonnier. – He bought fish at the fishmonger’s.
