The property of metals producing a ringing sound when struck is called:A.sonorityB.permeability C. ductilityD. malleabilityAnswer
Verified577.2k+ viewsHint: We know that metals are the elements which can donate its valence electrons to achieve noble gas configuration. They are generally hard, such as iron, aluminium etc. There are many properties of metals such as, malleability, ductility, sonority, conductivity (heat and light) etc. Complete step by step answer:Let’s find the correct option from options.Option A says the property of metals due to which it produces ringing sound when struck is termed as sonority. And this is correct. And that’s why metals are termed as sonorous. Due to this property of metals, they are used in musical instruments and in bells. Option B says the property of metals by which metals produce sound on hitting with a hard object (struck) is permeability. But, we know permeability is the diffusion of vapour, gas, solid or liquid through a material without chemically or physically affecting it. So, B is incorrect.Option C says that the property of the ringing sound of metal is ductility. But, ductility is the property by virtue of which a metal can be drawn into wires. Therefore, option C is incorrect. Option D says that the property of ringing sound by metal is termed as malleability. But we know, malleability is the property due to which a metal can be hammered into thin sheets. SSo, option D is incorrect. So, the correct answer is “Option A”.Note: An important property of metals is luster (shiny appearance). The luster property of metals means the metals are shiny. Metals have the property luster because of the presence of free electrons. The free movement of electrons in the metal causes reflection of light incident on them.Recently Updated PagesMaster Class 11 Business Studies: Engaging Questions & Answers for Success
