CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — "The Righteous Gemstones" creators released an official teaser trailer for Season 2 this weekend. The new season was filmed heavily in Charleston.

The HBO comedy series stars Danny McBride, John Goodman, Adam Devine, Edi Patterson, and Cassidy Freeman. It follows a world-famous televangelist family with a long tradition of deviance, greed, and charitable work.

Second 2 "finds our blessed Gemstone family threatened by outsiders from both the past and present who wish to destroy their empire."

Much of the season was filmed in Charleston, with producers casting many locals as extras.

The new 9-episode season will premiere Sunday, January 9.
