Fillion plays John Nolan, the oldest rookie in the LAPD. At an age where most are at the peak of their career, Nolan cast aside his comfortable, small town life and moved to L.A. to pursue his dream of being a cop. Now, surrounded by rookies twenty years his junior, Nolan must navigate the dangerous, humorous and unpredictable world of a "young" cop, determined to make his second shot at life count. I figured 1 or 2 seasons then a new cast. Exactly. Same formula as Greys Anatomy: Every year should be a couple new interns. Has worked for them for decades. But no. They seem to be following the path of "Criminal Minds" where every season is bigger, bolder, the bad guy is no longer a funny liquor store hold-up but instead a Bond-level villain actively targeting the team. That type of self one-ups-manship is unsustainable over the long term and kills shows just as we've seen with every other show that does it. This is season 8. They've just announced moving the show to a less competitive night: Never a good sign as it shows they have less faith in their own product. I predict we see a steep drop in ratings over this year. The network will stick with them for a 9th season to see if they can turn things around. Then that will be that-there will be no 10.Think they are just being lazy and going with the easy money. By the time this well is dry, something new will have popped up, and we will once again be placated and take it.by SgtSaint posted 1 month agoinkblot wrote: Where are the rookies? It was a lot like the trailer. A looks a lot like they are pushing this FBI interaction is going to be an ongoing thing for the season. What a shame; I really like(d) this show just the way it was. They didn't need to try to turn it into their failed "Rookie: Feds", especially after having watched that fail. Who does that?by SgtSaint posted 1 month agoSeason 8 trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LA8DzM402BQ "The Rookie: Feds" was horrible and wasn't cancelled soon enough - so now they make "The Rookie" into a cross between FBI: International (great but also cancelled) and Rookie: Feds?? What kind of sense is that? Kinda feels like what they're doing to 9-1-1, where every season has to be some huge, over the top, push believability beyond the previous season show. At this point I bet season 9 of the Rookie will have them solving a crime on the ISS or on Moonbase Alpha But its just the trailer, so I hope I'm wrong as I really enjoy this show.by SgtSaint posted 1 year agoIf I had to guess they had to delay the start of filming until she didn't look pregnant or still carrying baby weight. That was my thought too when in s07e01 they said: I had to convince Baily to extend her tour so she was safe out of country most of the neighborhoods used in filming aren't there anymore... I feel the same with lots of NY shows/movies that have the twin towers. Now we will all see it in the LA based shows. I completely expect so much of the LA filmed shows to have big delays. The entire industry is going to be hard hit by this. Either because of location filming... crew that lost everything... half the city moving elsewhere. Last I saw the devastated area is the size of the entire city of Paris and that's with barely any containment. By the time this is done, much of LA population is simply going to have to relocate even if "temporarily" means 3 years. Much of the city is going to have to be dozed and leveled.... inspected... permitting alone will be years behind schedule... Infrastructure will have to be tested and replaced from water lines and sewage to power grid... This kind of recovery on this scale is years.by Daemonius posted 1 year agoSo freaky to watch this show at the moment, most of the neighborhoods used in filming aren't there anymore...by SgtSaint posted 1 year agovoyager69_1 wrote:While The Rookie was renewed for season 7, ABC revealed that the show wouldn't return until midseason in 2025, instead of its regular fall schedule, raising concerns as to why this decision was made Pretty obvious that Jenna Dewan as Bailey Nune was pregnant during filming this season (3rd child). If I had to guess they had to delay the start of filming until she didn't look pregnant or still carrying baby weight. They needed to give the actress time to get back into pre-pregnancy petiteness.by voyager69_1 posted 1 year agoWhile The Rookie was renewed for season 7, ABC revealed that the show wouldn't return until midseason in 2025, instead of its regular fall schedule, raising concerns as to why this decision was madeView all comments » | | |
