Production on the season ten finale of The Walking Dead has been postponed by the outbreak of coronavirus. As fans wait for the return of AMC’s zombie epic, some unfortunate continuity errors have been exposed in earlier episodes by returning to the series on Amazon Prime Video. One eagle-eyed viewer spotted two noticeable production mistakes involving Carol's daughter Sophia.

Despite completing most of the latest season of The Walking Dead, the AMC drama is still keeping fans waiting for the thrilling finale, A Certain Doom.

During the ongoing pandemic, the frightening zombie outbreak in the popular series has provided some brave fans with some much needed entertainment.

Before current series lead Daryl Dixon (played by Norman Reedus) took the reins, fans were gripped by Rick Grimes’ (Andrew Lincoln) struggle for survival.

Joined by his friend and rival Shane (Jon Bernthal) and his reunited wife Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies), the pocket of survivors defend themselves against the approaching horde.

• The Walking Dead season 10, episode 16 release date?

Unfortunately, some tough decisions have to be made when the infectious bites of oncoming walkers cause the survivors to turn.

Among them was the tragic death of Sophia Peletier (Madison Lintz), the young daughter of long-running TWD survivor Carol (Melissa McBride).

Sophia goes missing at the beginning of season two, and is discovered in the seventh episode Pretty Much Dead Already, having succumbed to the zombie infection.

Ultimately, it’s Rick who steps up to put the new walker out of her misery with a merciful shot to the head, amid her mother’s screams of pain.

Although the sequence in season two was marked as one of TWD’s most tragic moments in the early part of the series, one fan couldn’t help but spot some strange continuity blunders.

They said: “As the group kills the walkers that come out of the barn, the camera shows several different vantage points from in front of the barn, inside of the barn etc.

“It shows the walkers lying with a clear path between them, and in another it shows the walkers lying in a jumbled pile with no path between them.”

Strangely, it seemed the production team couldn’t quite settle on how to stage the pivotal scene.

They added: “This goes back and forth a few times until Sophia comes out of the barn, and there is no clear path again.”

To make matters worse, yet another visual blunder was spotted in the very next episode following the aftermath of Sophia’s death.

As a fan explained: “At the end where Rick shoots the walker Sophia, she falls to her right.

“In the next episode, Nebraska, picking up immediately after the last, she is in an entirely different position, as if she fell forward.”

Sophia’s death went down as one of TWD’s most shocking moments, and was made even more infamous by a surprising revelation from the character’s actress.

Madison Lintz went on record to reveal she had no idea her character would be written off the show this way as her character was still alive in Robert Kirkman’s original comics.

She said: “I honestly thought that I was in [more of the second season]. I thought I was not going to die, because I was still alive in the comics.”

The series is set to adapt Kirkman’s renowned Commonwealth arc for season 11, though fans are anticipating more major diversions from the original story.

The Walking Dead season 10 is hoped to conclude in 2020 on AMC.
