Carl Grimes had his right eye shot out during season 6 of The Walking Dead – but apparently he can see through it?

Various scenes over the course of season 7 have seen Rick's soon-to-be-deceased son aiming assault rifles with his missing and eyepatch-covered eye. It's pretty hilarious.

Well, now Chandler Riggs (who plays Carl) has addressed the blunder and admitted that it's all his fault, explaining that he got a little bit "lazy" while trying to adjust to holding weapons meant to be carried with two hands.

"Actually, what we ended up doing, after I got my eye shot out, we ended up switching the holster to my left pant leg," he told HuffPost.

"I had to retrain my left hand to shoot and aim down.

"By the time I got to it with machine guns and assault rifles and stuff, I just got lazy with it. It felt way too awkward having to put it on my left shoulder and aim down with my left eye. It was super weird, so I was like, you know what, forget continuity. That's just ridiculous."

It's a shame we won't be seeing the mistake any longer.

Season 8 episode 9, 'Honor', is Chandler's final episode as a series regular, as Carl says his goodbyes to Rick and everybody else.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC in the US on Sunday, February 25. It'll be back on Monday, February 26 in the UK on FOX UK and NOW TV.
