OYSTER BAY, N.Y. -- Colonel Theodore Roosevelt died at his home, Sagamore Hill, at 4:15 o'clock this morning as the result of a blood clot on the heart.

It is stated at his residence that Colonel Roosevelt went to bed last night feeling well. His end was peaceful. Several members of the family were at his bedside when he passed away.

Mr. Roosevelt returned to his home Christmas day from the Roosevelt Hospital, New York, where he had been ill for sometime, suffering from Sciatica.

Immediately after he died his son Archie Roosevelt, who was in Boston, was notified and he started for his father's home at once.

The Roosevelt residence at Sagamore Hill is closed. Nobody was allowed to enter the grounds after the Colonel died.

It was stated that the Colonel's physicians would make an official announcement later in the day.

Colonel Roosevelt was sixty years old and was born in New York October 27th, 1858. The death of Mr. Roosevelt leaves only one ex-president living, this being Hon. William H. Taft.

Colonel Roosevelt died in his sleep. The end came when there was no one in the room but his valet.

The ex-President died from pulmonary embolism. Doctor Faller explained that this is a blood clot upon the arteries or lungs.

The funeral will take place Wednesday from Christ Episcopal church, Oyster Bay, and the Rev. Dr. George Talmage will officiate. The internment will be in Young Memorial cemetery at Oyster Bay Cove.
