Introduction
You don’t need a sewing machine to sew. But a machine can save you a lot of time when you make repairs, so if you have access to a sewing machine, here’s how to thread it. In this guide we’re using a Bernina 830, but the process will be similar for most sewing machines. Refer to your sewing machine’s owner’s manual for specific directions on how to thread the machine.

What you need

Step 1 Thread a Sewing Machine

Place a spool on the pin. Pull the thread from the spool straight out, following the length of the machine.

Hook the thread under the eyelet on the outer edge of the machine.

With one hand, hold the spool steady. Using the eyelet as a pivot, pull the string perpendicular with the other hand. Lay the thread into the slot, which bisects the top of the machine.
