- During the fireside chat, Tim Cook spoke to Marc Benioff about how Apple and Salesforce can together 'ignite productivity' and learn what is best for their business
- Apple's CEO has expressed concern on users' data protection
Edited By Aparna BanerjeaUpdated25 Nov 2019, 10:41 AM IST
Apple CEO Tim Cook has revealed what the company does with Android phones if they happen to receive them. In an exclusive fireside chat with Marc Benioff after the recently ended Salesforce Event, Dreamforce 2019 held in San Francisco, US, Cook jokingly replied, "If you have an Android, we do recycle those at the Apple Store." He uttered this after asking the audience who all among them own an iPhone. The audience chuckled at the comment along with the host. Later on, he went on the thank the audience for using Apple devices. Moreover, Cook mentioned in the interview that the main goal of the Cupertino-based company was "making the world's best products and enriching people's lives."
"From productivity to privacy, great technology can change everything," Cook tweeted about the the Dreamforce 2019 event later.
During the chat, Cook also spoke to Marc about how Apple and Salesforce can together "ignite productivity" and learn what is best for their business. Apart from that, the Apple CEO discussed myriad topics covering innovation, data privacy, artificial intelligence and environment. Talking about Steve Jobs, Cook shared how he never knew why Jobs would always leave the office earlier than him but he would always make an effort to discuss ideas and notes with Cook before he left.
This is not the first time that Cook offhandedly passed comment on his company's immediate rival Google. Earlier too, in other such events and instances, Apple's CEO has widely compared iOS and Android and have also expressed concern over the growing breach of data and privacy. He has also taken a jab at Facebook and Google in the recent past especially when it came to their data protection policy.
Highlighting the same at the event, Tim Cook emphasised on the importance of privacy and protection of its users' data. During the chat, he told Marc that his main goal was to "embed privacy in all our products." He said, "Privacy is very important to us, we view privacy as a fundamental human right. We double down on that many many times." He further added, "You think about it in the development process of products. You can see what happens when companies wake up one day and decide they're going to do something privacy-wise. You just don't do it. You have to design it in."
Cook, during the half-an-hour chat also expressed concern about the environment and went on to say how at Apple, he and his co-workers firmly practice recycling of its products and how they are zealously working towards minimising carbon footprint to almost zero.
