| “ | A fairy's work is much more than at first it might appear. Suppose your broken clock ticks, though it hasn't in a year. Perchance you'd find a toy you lost or jingling bells you hear. It all means that one very special fairy might be near. | ” |

Tinker Bell is a Tinker-talent (also called pots-and-pans-talent) fairy and the main protagonist of the Tinker Bell movie series from 1 to 5.
Tinker Bell first appeared in J.M. Barrie's story, Peter and Wendy, as Peter Pan's fairy sidekick. The story was released as a play in 1904, and was later adapted into a novel six years later. Tinker Bell's first on screen appearence was in the 1953 movie adaptation of J.M. Barrie's story. The film was animated and produced by Walt Disney Productions. Walt Disney had earlier bought the rights for the characters of Peter Pan, and after the film's release Tinker Bell became a beloved character and one of Disney's primary mascots.
At the creation of the Disney Princess franchise during the early 2000s, Tinker Bell was a part of the original line-up. She was soon removed however, and moved to the newly created Disney Fairies franchise. Tinker Bell would now appear as a major character in the Fairy Dust trilogy written by Gail Carson Levine, and later other books written by various authors. And finally, she appeared as the main character in the Disney Fairies films.

Physical appearance
Tinker Bell has a warm complexion and an hourglass body with a somewhat smaller build. Her shoulder length, yellow hair is usually styled into a neat bun with thick bangs. She has round, blue eyes, thin eyebrows and red lips. Her outfit usually varies between different seasons and events, but casually, she wears a green dress made of leaves. She always has a cotton ball on each of her shoes, no matter what she wears (even during her time as a Water fairy in the fourth sequel).
Tinker Bell's color palette is also similar to that of daffodils, which could have inspired the use of daffodils for her arrival.
Personality
Despite her cute appearance, Tinker Bell is very sassy, feisty, stubborn, and hot-tempered. However, despite her rough exterior, at her core, Tinker Bell is devoted and loyal to those she loves and will eventually come to terms with those she initially resents, should they prove themselves worthy of friendly treatment. This can be seen, most notably, in her relation to Wendy Darling in the original 1953 film. As a Never Fairy, Tink can fly and retain her Pixie Dust daily ration, which allows other creatures to fly (including an octopus in Return to Neverland). She is described as being a tinker-talent, meaning that she mends pots, kettles, and acorn caps, and is shown to be very skilled, gifted, and talented at it too.
Anthroponymy
Tinker comes from Tinker Bell's role as a tinker-talent. The word tinkering means to attempt to repair or improve and make small changes to something.
Bell comes from the fact that to humans, fairies sound like tiny bells when speaking due to their small size.
List of inventions
Tinker Bell has a big interest in lost things that come from the Mainland. In the movies, Tink crafted new tools that help with other fairies' talents and a variety of many other tasks. [2]
- Tint spray - It is used to paint lady bugs. It is made with an acorn, twigs and things from nature.
- Seed catcher - It is made with a glove, and a part of a perfume bottle sprayer.
- Balloon carrier - A flying craft created from the boat formerly used in the Pixie Dust Express, cotton fluff, a gourd, and a compass.
Trivia
- both Tinker Bell’s appearence and personality are slightly different in the Disney Fairies films, compared to in Peter Pan (1953). In the Peter Pan film, Tinker Bell had slightly sharper features (dress and hair). This difference could also be because of the artstyle.
- Before 2008, Disney's Tinker Bell only had bell sounds.
- In the franchise, it is expound that the bell sounds were due to fairies being too tiny for humans to hear their voices, being a controversy to The Gift.
- Her friend Rosetta is the only known fairy that can and mimicked her own "angry", red cheeks[3] Tink herself gets when angered.
- Some fans have assumed that Tinker Bell has a romantic crush on Peter. However, that theory has been contradicted several times by Margaret Kerry, who had proven otherwise.[4]
- Tinker Bell is the youngest of her friends, or at least the youngest of the main cast, as she was the last one of them to arrive in Pixie Hollow.
