Spanish, Spain Hi everyone!This is my first time at the forum. Could anyone tell me how to say "baboso"?The context could be something like" qué tío tan baboso".Would "slimy" be approppriate?"What a slimy guy".Does it sound right to you?

Colorado English-US Hi. Baboso literally means "slobbery, drooly". In your context, I'd understand it to mean "what a stupid guy", though I suppose the adjective could be more literal depending on the guy you're talking about.

Does he always try to hug and kiss you although you don't want him to? Does he try to butter you up? Or is he just stupid? I once had a (male) friend whose girlfriend called him "baboso" meaning that he was lazy, slothful. Some useful all-purpose terms are "creep", "jerk", "slimeball", "smarmy bastard" and "lech". M

Spanish, Spain Thank you owlman5 but "stupid" is not the word I'm trying to find.It's got to do with a man's behaviour towards a woman.We say that in Spanish when a man is hovering near a woman doing childish,silly things because he is attracted to her.

Colorado English-US Hi, Mamary. In that case, I agree completely with Aztlaniano: "what a creep/jerk/slimeball/scumbag" would all work in this context. Women here in the US would probably say "dweeb" or "dork" in this case. Others you might try if you're working on insulting terms would include: boob, doofus, moron, weenie etc. The list goes on and on, of course, and a good dictionary of English slang could give you many more. Maybe not necessarily kiss, but always too close to what is considered acceptable withou having been invited to get any closer. The kind of jerk that tries anyway even the signals you're sending scream "move away".

That's inept, clumsy and stupid, and fits one of the definitions of "baboso". Mamary's case is more of someone who keeps hitting on her, is trying to get into her pants and gives her the creeps.

There is no basis to conclude that. We have no information about just how attractive mamary is. She may be irresistable even to the most intelligent men.
