Parkersburg High School NJROTC How to shine shoes

Shining shoes is important. If you do it well enough, you’ll stand out as a cadet. It’s easy to do and will pay off. The following video is a good tutorial on how to do it. However you don’t actually need a brush to buff your shoes, in fact a cloth will do it better. If you want your shoes to get even shinier, use a pantyhose when you buff the shoe.

Pencil = 1/4 inch

Getting your ribbons and nametag on your uniform can be a pain to do perfectly. Luckily for you though, the width of a regular #2 pencil is exactly 1/4 inch. Use it whenever you put your ribbons and namtag on and they’ll be good to go.

Shirt Stays are your friend (If you’re a guy)

You may notice that your uniform shirt is very blousey. This is normal, in fact it’s inevitable unless you’re wearing a smaller size than normal. A quick fix to this is to use shirt stays. Shirt stays keep your shirt connected to your socks so it stays tight through out the day. They’re cheap and make your uniform look 100 times better, so invest in shirt stays.

Cardboard is surprisingly useful

You can use cardboard to make your ribbons and nametag nicer by cutting out cardboard in the shape you want and placing it behind the nametag/ribbons under the uniform.
