incognito4382 I Simply stated, DeSmuME won't fit on my 1360x768 HDTV. I must make it fit. At first it was because I wanted to play Radiant Historia, but now it's out of pure spite and rage. Here is what I have tried... - Most of the filters run at 2x size minimum, which is a tad too large. The resizeable EPX and Nearest filters fit, but look like junk. As does using no filter at all. So, I am stuck with a 2x screen and have to make it fit... somehow. - Tried orienting the two screens horizontally, but even after an hour of play I can't get used to the fact that I am mostly watching only the right half of the screen. They have to be vertical or I just can't get comfortable. - At 2x size, only a small portion of the bottom screen is cut off. So I tried moving the program up as to cut off the menu stuff on top and only leave game screen. But windows wanted nothing to do with that and forced the whole thing back down. You can go off-screen left, right, and down, but not up. Bastards. - Tried finagling with the lockdown option, and setting the windows toobar to hide, but to no avail. It still cuts off the bottom. - Now here was my greatest plan. I set the screen resolution from landscape to portrait, then tried to prop my entire TV on it's side. Almost killed both the TV and my dog. - Also tried No$GBA, which solves this whole size issue. However, there are even worse problems there when running Radiant Historia. So. Any suggestions? #1 · Feb 24, 2011 Simply stated, DeSmuME won't fit on my 1360x768 HDTV. I must make it fit. You have got to be freaking kidding me. What was the deal with the hundreds of google searches saying that DeSmuME has no fullscreen mode? Bah. Thank you for the solution. Freaking google. #4 · Feb 24, 2011

So, as a follow up to this solution, I would like to ask, how does it look in full screen? And which stretch filters are available? #5 · Feb 24, 2011 View attachment 213909 View attachment 213910 View attachment 213911 Fullscreen scaling is automatically adjusted to fit as necessary. Just using bilinear filtering in the pic. #6 · Feb 24, 2011 Keep in mind that if you use a filter then you are stuck with 2x the size minimum while in windowed mode. I'm really happy they added fullscreen to deal with that issue. I read all sorts of posts and comments about how the developers were totally against coding it. Just to throw it in the pot in case anyone was curious; I had two problems with running Radiant Historia on No$GBA. Firstly, there was frequent issue with the nocash 3D render. Changing it to OpenGL fixed this issue, but caused major slow down in the menu and other areas. The other problem is that some layers were out of order. Some of the text for menu items were behind the bar they were supposed to be on top of, life/mana bars were behind the frame, stuff like that. DeSmuME seems to be the hands down superior DS emulator at this point. #7 · Feb 24, 2011 Please be aware that fullscreen may slightly break the aspect ratio of the game. This was brought to my attention the other day. I guess ill bump the priority for fixing it a little bit. The developers were against adding fullscreen until we realized we could do fake fullscreen. #8 · Feb 25, 2011 Full screen works fine for me. My resolution is 1920x1080 #9 · Feb 28, 2011 I'm trying to fullscreen DeSmuME from my frontend in windows - is their a command line fullscreen function or an always start in fullscreen function? thanks #10 · Mar 1, 2011

It doesn't appear to be documented under the common DeSmuME CLI parameters: DeSmuME Common command line arguments What frontend are you using? Many modern fronends have a 'send key' function (and potentially a 'wait' function in the event that the frontend should pause before sending the keys). If that's the case simply set the frontend to send the Alt + Enter key combination to DeSmuME when it opens (something along the lines of "%[ENTER]" as a send key function - and potentially enter a specified number of milliseconds under the 'wait' option depending on how fast your computer loads DeSmuME). #11 · Mar 1, 2011

Thanks - Yes there isn't a commandline fullscreen function at all in DeSmuME atm I use Quickplay I know other f/e users generally make an autohk loader to send key commands to the emu (which is what i'll do for now), but I'm interested: which f/e's allow native hotkey operation? #12 · Mar 1, 2011

Funny you mentioned the AHK/AutoIt script, I was just thinking I ought to edit my first post to mention that option. Sounds like you know what you’re doing, so awesome! :thumb: I’ve never used Quickplay, perhaps I’ll have to give it a look. I currently use GameEx which utilizes both the send keys and wait options on a per emulator basis. It’s definitely my FE of choice these days (for an HTPC system at least). In the past I used Maximus Arcade which utilized the send keys option per emulator, but not a wait option if I recall correctly (it’s been a while). Lastly, I would imagine that HyperSpin does something like this, but I can’t verify that claim, as I’ve only given it a brief test drive. Can’t speak at all for Mala or others. #13 · Mar 1, 2011 ah ok thanks - it was Brian H who introduced me to the autoHK loader...I didn't know those functions were now integrated into gamex you might want to check out QP if you like arcade emulators, I've been doing a lot of work on that front recently....go to the forums, you'll see what i mean....MESS and goodmerge support also to be highly recommended... ultimately though I use a low-powered portable so I need a low-powered quick frontend - which is what QP is - haven't found anything else suitable yet #14 · Mar 1, 2011 Quickplay looks nice, I'll definitely be giving it a try. I'm currently shopping around for a netbook, so I will in turn also be searching for a low-powered agile frontend. QP looks to fit the bill. Thanks for the heads up! Just realized I've seen you around over at UG (I think). I'll have to friend you over there! /threadHighjack #15 · Mar 1, 2011 cool - yup you've got the idea - its all about the netbooks....if anyone else can recommend a f/e that will work on a netbook, i want to know! Some DS games do work on a netbook - just a matter of finding out which ones, and making fullscreen work (quite important that for a tiny screen) see you round //threadHighjack #16 · Mar 1, 2011

TO fix the Icon issues in battle with the skills on NO$GBA use No$ZOOMER and use the $th extra option it will let them show up correctly. That was bugging me a little till I decided to mess with the extra options in No$ZOOMER I have both 0 and 4 activated and have no issues right now. Havent checked to see if that fixes the small graphical problems I have in walking mode yet there where there is a couple of black triangles. #17 · Oct 18, 2013 (Edited) The ultimate solution for making Your desmume emulator fit within Your monitor screen After years of waiting, lots of disappointment and desperate ways of trying to put that darn desmume window (version 0.9.10) into Your screen. You've just always been asking yourselves: "how the hell do I manage to set the size of this thing to big and wide enough so that it just fits into my screen?" Finally... the time has come to present the best solution for our problems. Lol just follow these instructions step by step and you'll be happy than ever before :D SOLUTION! Go to "View"-tab and first select "Normal" among all the magnification filters. Then reduce the size of the window as lowest as possible by just clicking and dragging the edge of it. Now that "Normal" has pretty crappy quality, you may want to change it to a magnification filter better complying with your wishes, BUT other than HQ4x or something which has 2x or higher multiplier. Those make the window much oversize. 1.5x is OK. You may now also want to maximize the window. Well, feel free to do that and when you've managed to follow these instructions I promise you, it WILL fit much better into the screen. (Perfect MF: SuperEagle) Advantages: -better than horizontal view (in my opinion) -runs really smooth -perfect size (you can also adjust the window so that screen seperation fits between main screen and bottom screen) Just to prove that this is how it looks like after everything's done.. (see screenshots) BEST WISHES. ENJOY! :) #18 · Oct 19, 2013 Thank you for the tips man :) #19 · Oct 19, 2013 (Edited) My pleasure! I'm very satisfied to hear positive replies to my post. I'll keep helping on the people who were always looking forward to using desmume the right way. If you like I'll post my own settings, which yet are a pretty good match for the performance of the real DS. At least it's just how I see it personally ;). It's fairly decent, there's absolutely no reason to complain about anything and I don't think there are any other possibilities for adjusting the settings to even better ones. :) I also got two images of settings that are missing here: In "Display Method" OpenGL and VSync are ticked and in "Advanced" the saving type is set to "autodetect". PS.: The only things that might bother you are just some harmless little lags caused by "Timestretch Stats" (stretching packets) and "Underrun compensations" (buffering packages). DON'T WORRY! Those lags will be disappearing roughly in seconds, mostly pretty early during gameplay. Unfortunately they will show up while starting to play but I wouldn't fret over it that much. It's more like some kinda phase of warming up at the beginning. Greetings Insert Quotes Post Reply
