It probably does...but by the time it's happening I assure you, you will not notice or care.

Birth has a smell. It smells like sweat and blood and wet and earth, and feces and well... it's a lot going on.
Bad? Probably MOST would describe it as bad. But, it's a very distinct smell. I always know when mom is starting to push, the smell in the room changes.

I never noticed any smells while delivering myself, BUT when I was at my GF's delivery I almost threw up from the smell (I was pregnant at the time).
v1ck1e Posted 06-29-12If you poop it definitely will ;)- qQuintoMom Posted 06-29-12
I couldn't tell you. That was the last thing on my mind.

I've been to two other births (besides when I had my daughter) and I agree with Morgan...it definitely has a smell, but really it isn't disgusting or awful. Maybe the whole experience is just so astounding that you don't care about things that might gross you out in regular life.
rubiamomma Posted 06-29-12I never noticed a bad smell per say in any I've been around, my own & others. After birth blood has a distinct smell that I actually recognized when my dog gave birth 8 Weeks ago lol... Still, I don't think I would say it was a bad smell, just distinct- nNoMeansNo Posted 06-29-12Give yourself enough time to shower and have the room cleaned before you invite people in to meet baby if you are concerned. You might puke, poop, you will bleed, and there will be sweat.

I never noticed a smell while I was giving birth, but it was honestly the last thing I was worrying about.
