Tony Hawk Buys Century-old House In Detroit

DETROIT -- Professional skateboarding legend Tony Hawk has bought a house in the Woodbridge area and he's already been spotted tearing it up at The Wig.

The Detroit Free Press reports Hawk is not moving to the city, but that his wife is originally from Metro Detroit and they "wanted to put their money and their stamp on the city."

Jim Tumey, an agent with The Loft Warehouse, broke the news on his Instagram page with a picture in front of the tall, red-brick home. He declined to share the sale price, but told the Free Press the house was once a single-family home, a hospital and then transformed into apartments.

"Where else can you buy three apartments in a 120-140-year-old building?" Tumey told the Free Press. "It's a pretty good deal."

The real estate agent wasn't the only one to post to Instagram, as Hawk shared a photo of himself skating at Woodbridge's skate park, The Wig. His wife, Catherine Goodman, also shared a photo of the family's new midwest digs.

Hawk is known as the first skater to land the "900," for his popular video game series and for being a pioneer in making professional skateboarding a mainstream sport.
