Synopsis

Ryuuji Takasu is a gentle high school student with a love for housework; but in contrast to his kind nature, he has an intimidating face that often gets him labeled as a delinquent. On the other hand is Taiga Aisaka, a small, doll-like student, who is anything but a cute and fragile girl. Equipped with a wooden katana and feisty personality, Taiga is known throughout the school as the "Palmtop Tiger." One day, an embarrassing mistake causes the two students to cross paths. Ryuuji discovers that Taiga actually has a sweet side: she has a crush on the popular vice president, Yuusaku Kitamura, who happens to be his best friend. But things only get crazier when Ryuuji reveals that he has a crush on Minori Kushieda—Taiga's best friend! Toradora! is a romantic comedy that follows this odd duo as they embark on a quest to help each other with their respective crushes, forming an unlikely alliance in the process. Toradora! was selected as a recommended work by the awards jury of the 13th Japan Media Arts Festival in 2009. The light novel was also adapted into a video game for PlayStation Portable, released only in Japan and published by Namco Bandai Games in 2009.

You are either young, fresh into anime, or were like me: a 90's anime fan that dropped this show. Well, I finally gave it a honest try. Characters: 9/10 Story: 9/10 Art: 9/10 Animation: 8/10 Character Development: 10/10 Realist human emotions: 10/10 Realistic problems: 10/10 ... Toradora! was actually a breath of fresh air from current 2020's romance anime. If your reading this then like me you probably just needed that final push. Well, don't drop it this time if you had. Give it a few episodes. It is not an "enemies to lovers" anime like people will claim. Watch it and you will understand. What I think this show did best was the romantic feelings felt real and natural. It wasn't sudden, it wasn't forced, it had it's ups and downs. Taiga and Ryuuji feel like real people with real problems that are genuinely trying their best to figure it all out. I give it a 10/10 overall but it's probably more of a 9/10. But this felt so natural to me compared to the last 20 romance anime I've seen so I wanted to give it that extra bump. I gave it a second chance because I thought that I was being grumpy when I gave up after episode 1 a few years ago, - I finished it this year and it was not worth all the 24 episodes I have to endure. I am sorry but it was so boring, I think it could have been better if it was like 12 episodes or something... But the main couple was cute, okay. Ii wish we could have seen them more though because we don't get to see how they manage their couple. I also like the dynamics ... with the characters we first don't really like, with the sudden character development that makes us like them in the end. Story I got up to the 10th episode before I had to drop the anime. Up to that point, nothing relevant or exciting happened. There were no cliffhangers, no developments, and it was so boring that I almost fell asleep multiple times. With Taiga, we have a psychopath as the main character, and Ryuuji, also a main character, who is not interesting at all and lets everything slide. Why he helps someone who constantly treats him so miserably is beyond words. The supporting characters were also boring, monotonous, and devoid of any empathy. Characters I don't want to write about each one. But I found the characters ... boring, one-dimensional, superficial, or even catastrophic. Music I only liked the ending. Animation and Character Design It was okay but nothing special. Conclusion Please don't put yourself through this. The story and the characters are pure torture.
