Tord Maximillian Larsson is a Norwegian artist and animator. He was an online friend of Edd Gould and his animated counterpart frequently appeared in Edd's animations and comics.

Involvement with Eddsworld

Tord initially met Edd on Newgrounds in November 2004. He saw one of Edd's animations, Eddsworld Intro v3, and left a comment saying that one of the comics featured in it was funny.[3] He was first brought in by Edd to draw comics for Eddsworld.co.uk[4] the same month. The two became close friends, which led to Tord gaining an animated counterpart, first appearing in Eddsworld Christmas Special.[5]

Edd started having major computer problems around the time The Dudette Next Door was made, and had to use internet cafes and such to stay in contact with Tord. Tom and Tord were left to chat alone, and according to Edd, it lead the two to realize "they didn't like each other too much". Once Edd returned, things continued as normal.[5] Edd and Tord met up in real life on 2 separate occasions, once in 2006[6] and again in 2007.

Tord left Eddsworld after the completion of Moving Targets in 2008.[5] The first scene in 25ft Under the Seat showing his animated counterpart leaving was a result of this. Edd confirmed Tord's departure in a Scrambled Edd blog post from a few days after 25ft was uploaded, and said Tord did so for "a number of reasons" but assured that the two were still friends.[7] Edd would later state in a Vokle livestream that the scene from 25ft was his least favorite scene in any of his animations.[citation needed] Tord voiced his animated counterpart one last time in a flashback scene in WTFuture, dubbing over one of Alex L'Abbé's lines.

Edd clarified in his "Origins of Eddsworld" post that Tord left because he "wished to pursue his own ambitions separately from the group",[5] and he also said in its comments section that the two were still in touch.[8][9]

Shortly after learning about Edd Gould's death in 2012, Tord posted a video where he explained why he left Eddsworld and addressed rumors regarding him that were floating around at the time.[10][6] In it, Tord confirmed that he left Eddsworld because he wanted to make a name for himself outside of it, added that he was always anonymous online so he wouldn't get attention from Eddsworld fans, and stated that his animated counterpart stopped appearing because he felt it wasn't appropriate to have a character bearing his name still present in the show.[6] Some time later, Tord deleted the channel the video was uploaded on. The end of the video was used in Thomas Ridgewell's video Your Eulogy, which was played at Edd's funeral.[11]

Tord's animated counterpart reappeared for the Eddsworld: Legacy finale, The End, although he was voiced by Jamie Spicer-Lewis. The real Tord was not contacted.[12] Matt Hargreaves mentioned in a now-deleted tweet that Tord attempted to reach out to him via Facebook sometime prior to 2016, but he didn't see the message due to Facebook automatically hiding it.[13] By the time he saw it, Tord had deleted the account.
