Overview[]

This Shrine Quest is one of three that Link must complete as part of "The Korok Trials" Side Quest. On the southwest edge of the Korok Forest, Link will find Zooki advertising a Korok Trial.[2] At first, they are unsure if Hylians are allowed to attempt the Trial, but they decide they do not care.[3] When Link asks, they explain that the Korok Trials are a challenge that all Koroks must face to become proper members of society.[4] All three of the Trials must be completed alone.[5]

Zooki will ask Link if he is there to attempt the Korok Trial.[6] If Link confirms that it is, they will be shocked that asking was worth it.[7] They explain that, in order to complete the Trial, Link must navigate the Lost Woods without getting lost in the mist.[8] Noticing that Link does not consider that easy,[9] Zooki offers him a hint.[10] They say that he can find his way by looking for the iron belonging to the hungry Trees.[11] Zooki asks Link if it sounded cool and tells him to think about it during the Trial.[12] When they are finished speaking, the Shrine Quest will begin.

Link's path is marked by Ogre Trees with metal Boulders in their mouths. They can be found easily using the Magnesis Rune. Along the way, he will encounter Chuchus and Stone Pebblits, which can be either defeated or avoided. Eventually he will come upon a small clearing, where a group of Stalkoblins guard a Rusty Shield on a platform. Nearby, a Stone Tablet in front of an Ogre Tree. It asks that he feed the Ogre Tree the Rusty Shield and in return, his brother will repay him.[13]

When Link places the Rusty Shield inside the Ogre Tree's mouth, a Treasure Chest will drop out of the mouth of another Ogre Tree behind the first one. From inside, Link will be able to retrieve an Amber. Past the two Ogre Trees, a Raft will be waiting at the end of a Dock on Lake Saria. On an island in the middle of the Lake is another Ogre Tree with a Stone Tablet. This one asks Link to return its Treasure Chest, as it was stolen by the brother.[14] Doing this will cause Kuhn Sidajj Shrine to rise from the ground nearby, ending the Shrine Quest.

Trivia[]

In the English version of Breath of the Wild, Zooki's dialog has a typo: "As for what challenges the trials hold, you'll just have wait and see." The word "to" should be after "you'll just have" (it's not).[15]
