Great that Cricut Design Space now has a circular text feature, but how do you know what curve setting to use for a tumbler, bucket, etc? Well, I did some math so you don’t have to…

And if you have other cone shaped cups, buckets, lampshades, cupcake wrappers, etc., I created the calculator below for that.

    • Where do I find the curve tool? I’m missing that option apparently .

      • When you have text selected it is on the top toolbar as shown on the pic above. It is not a feature of the mobile app, however.

        • Apparently it’s not on the explores anymore! I remember using it last year and now it’s gone ?

          • If you mean the curve feature, it is on the web app but not the mobile app.

  6. This is awesome. Does Silhouette have this feature?

    • Yes, Silhouette Studio Designer Edition Plus has feature where you enter the dimensions and it curves your design (text and images) automatically to match.

  8. I’m guessing that Designer Edition Plus is different than Designer Edition 3.0. If they have the bugs out i’d update to a better version. But have been hesitant.

    • Actually 3.6.57 version

    • Designer Edition Plus is an edition, 3.6.57 is a version. However, conical warp did not appear until version 4.1. I understand your reluctance to update. Hopefully Silh Studio will remedy that soon. In the meantime you can use the earlier tumbler template for Silh Studio here cleversomeday.com/tumbler

  10. can an SVG be curved? Or just text?

    • Design Space can only curve text. To curve images, you would need Inkscape, SureCutsALot, Silhouette Studio Design Edition, etc.

      • What curve do I need for 30 tumblers and 20 oz Tumblers … Please help lol for my DS

        • That will depend on the dimensions of your cup.. Measure your cups and use the calculator on this page to find the curve for a given position on a given cup. I also have a template for the 30 oz Yeti style tumblers here cleversomeday.com/yeti30

  11. Hi Kay,

    I am trying to wrap a Ozark 30oz cup, with a leopard pattern, but want to wrap the entire cup with the same print. Can you give me some suggestions on how to do this since the top is bigger than the bottom?

    • My template for the 30 oz is here cleversomeday.com/yeti30 but you are not going to be able to do a full wrap with normal vinyl as it can’t conform over the 2 curves. Those kind of full coverage designs are normally done with some sort of commercial shrink wrap I think.

  14. So I’m trying to use the calculator and I don’t think I’m using it correctly. What exactly does “top of cup to text baseline” mean? I thought it meant the distance from the bottom of every text line to the top of the cup. I marked all 6 of my lines, thus each line had a different curve. When i put my vinyl on my cup every line seems to be doing it’s own thing. Some are going up on the ends and some are going down. What am I doing wrong? Also, in my some of my lines I had 2 different fonts that each had to be curved separately (on each line I curved both fonts the same amount.

    Oh, and thank you for making this. I am so grateful. I found this while searching for a template maker that i could input my stats and make an actual template with line spacing. My tumblers don’t have the same dimensions as some of the templates I’ve found online. For instance my 30oz cup is 4in at the top, 3in at the bottom, 8.125in tall, and with straight sides, unlike a Yeti tumbler.

    • Sounds like you are using it right, except that baseline would be the line a lower case a would sit on, versus the bottom of a lower case p for instance. Then make sure when you apply that baseline is at the right distance on the physical cup as well. Multilines are difficult as you are learning. If you do a lot of tumblers I recommend a program like Silhouette Studio Business Edition with conical warp built in.

    • Unfortunately no. not in Design Space.
