TUPAC Shakur was seen as a prison riot risk who might trigger violence with his celebration of gun gangs and disrespect for the law, explosive records reveal.

The bad boy rapper was eventually placed in “protective custody” by jail bosses because of the escalating concerns for his own safety and the safety of others.

Shakur – infamously and mysteriously gunned down in Las Vegas in 1996 –  was sentenced to four years at New York’s Clinton Correctional Facility on sex abuse charges.

At the time he was a promising movie star, had sold millions of albums, was dating Madonna and one of the hottest live performers on the planet.

His multi-platinum album ‘Me Against The World’ was released just before he was jailed in 1995 and reached the number one spot while he was in his cell.

However, despite his incredible fame outside prison, he was still treated like any other inmate by those in charge inside its walls, reports times.union.com.

JAIL EXTORTION FEARS

And it wasn’t long before he found himself in trouble with the authorities once more.

Inmate No. 95A1140 was quickly disciplined and placed in solitary confinement after he was caught hiding marijuana in his cell.

Before long he was in hot water again, this time for “spewing profanities” at correction officers and getting into prison yard scuffles after being hassled for autographs.

“Inmate Shakur is well known Rap Singer,” one prison official wrote in June 1995.

RHYME AND PUNISHMENT – RAPPERS BEHIND BARS

“He is a very high profile inmate and in light of such is victim prone. He is being approached for autographs, and has become the focus of undue attention.

“His fame and background could possibly make him a likely target for extortion.”

However, it wasn’t just the rapper’s health the prison authorities were worried about.

They feared he may become a rap “anti-hero” who might stir up trouble among inmates who listened to his chart-topping hits celebrating violence.

STREET GANG RIVALRY

Nearly 300 pages of prison records document Shakur’s time in prison – which came just months after he survived a shooting in a recording studio.

They paint a picture of a “brooding” man who spent his time in solitary confinement writing letters and songs, reading books and listening to music.

His prison mugshots list him as 5ftt 11ins and 154 pounds with a clean shaven head.

The records also reveal how he was banned from wearing his trademark ‘do rag’ behind bars over fears of street gang rivalry.

In prison confrontations, he did not back down from guards, whom he complained were verbally and physically abusive, they reveal.

In his breakup letter to Madonna, dated Jan. 15, 1995, and mailed from the prison, he wrote: “For you to be seen with a black man wouldn’t in any way jeopardize your career, if anything it would make you seem that much more open and exciting.

“But for me at least in my previous perception I felt due to my ‘image’ I would be letting down half of the people who made me what I thought I was.”

Three months later, in a brief wedding ceremony, he married 22-year-old Keisha Morris, a Bronx-born, African-American woman he met in a New York City nightclub. The marriage was later annulled.
