Word for the web doesn’t have a single setting to turn spell check on or off. Instead, you can tell Word not to check spelling or grammar for selected text (or the entire document).

  1. Select the section of the document where you'd like to disable spell check or press Ctrl+A to select the entire document.

  2. On the Review tab, select Editor > Set Proofing Language. 

    On the Review tab, click Editor  Set Proofing Language

  3. In the Language box, select Don't check spelling or grammar, and then select OK.

To review your document later, remove the Don’t check spelling or grammar setting or use Editor to run a spelling and grammar check on the document.
