Twin Peaks TV Waterfall

Snoqualmie, Washington

The tumbling slow-motion waterfall seen on the opening credits of David Lynch's television series Twin Peaks (1990-1991) is real, and in real-life it looks even bigger than it did on TV. The Snoqualmie Falls are 268 feet high, nearly 100 feet higher than Niagara Falls. Behind the falls, the Snoqualmie Falls Lodge (Salish Lodge)served as the exterior for the show's Great Northern Hotel.

The falls' scenic overlook is the same spot where Twin Peaks camera operators got their shots, so you can get one that's nearly the same. It's always been a popular attraction, and with Twin Peaks receding into distant memory, most of the current visitors to the falls are there just for the dramatic view.
