Two Reason To Eat Oysters In Fall And Winter

Two reasons to eat oysters in the coming months:
- Now is the best time to eat oysters
Most raw oysters taste much better in fall and winter than they do in summer. All oysters are somewhat weaker and thinner after they have done their best at reproducing. Oysters taste best out of cold water, some people say you could follow the frost line (southern oysters in late winter / early spring, northern oysters in fall), but we prefer the Northern East coast oyster anyways.
There are huge seasonal differences in the flavor of the oyster, like vintages of wine. We eat oysters whole year-round, but our absolute favorite time of the year is in September / October, when the oysters are really “plump and sweet.”
- We need a strong immune system
Eat oysters everyday and your immune system will be very happy! The oyster is a beautiful, natural and very nutritious product. In addition to a special flavor, these bivalve shellfish also have a lot to offer in terms of health. Including 59 trace elements, 12 vitamins, 19 amino acids and omega-3 fatty acids, each oyster provides an incredible package of nutrients.
Take for example zinc and selenium. Oysters contain more zinc than any other food. Among other things, zinc is necessary for the proper functioning of the immune system and improves the action of antibodies. Selenium has an antioxidant effect and supports the immune system. A medium-sized oyster provides no less than 55 percent of your daily requirement for zinc and selenium!
That’s why oysters appear to have a positive influence on the immune system and are therefore a natural weapon against viruses.
So don’t wait, plan your party or drinks or get-to-gether and book one of our oyster catering services and/or our oyster delivery service. It’s all about oysters!
