Like any pocket monster, though, a budding Pokemon Trainer can utilize Tyranitar’s weaknesses to turn the tide of battle with counters that are essential to defeating it.

As Tyranitar evolves from Pupitar at level 55, each one you encounter is likely to be a high level and very powerful — so here are all the need-to-know details to take into a battle against a Tyranitar, including its resistances and weaknesses.

All Tyranitar weaknesses

As a dual-type Pokemon, Tyranitar has a good few weaknesses to be aware of: Bug, Fairy, Fighting, Grass, Ground, Water, and Steel.

This means that most Pokemon teams (that usually consist of six Pokemon) will likely have at least one member well-suited to defeating it.

Fighting-type ‘mon are especially useful against Tyranitar, as they are extra weak against these. If you have any Fighting types that are dual Water or Grass-types, (like Keldeo or Quaquaval) you’ll be on to a winning formula here.
