2014Jeepcherlimited 2 On a trip from PA to Virginia this weekend. My boyfriend and I towed his motorcycle. total of 1,100 lbs so within the specs of my 2.4 liter 2014 Jeep Cherokee Limited. The ride down was fine, parked the Jeep for the weekend. When I disengaged the parking brake and put the jeep in drive, IT WENT IN REVERSE. I put it back in park. The Service Transmission came up on my screen and the malfunction light flipped on. My boyfriend used his code checker and the code that comes up is U1412. I have had issues with hard shifting and hesitation in the past and have had it to the dealership approx. 4 times for this. They have only ever done a computer upgrade. Could this linked to the trans issues I am encountering? HELP. Waiting to hear from the Dealership when I can take it in. Thanks #1 · Jun 21, 2016 On a trip from PA to Virginia this weekend. Thanks See less See more The U1412 fault code in a Jeep Cherokee indicates an "Implausible Vehicle Speed Signal Received," often stemming from a communication issue between the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) module. While a dealer visit is recommended for diagnosis, one potential cause could be related to the vehicle's position on an incline, possibly causing it to roll slightly and confuse the PCM. If the code is active, the ABS module will likely need to be replaced. Show Less Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions #2 · Jun 21, 2016 U1412 is Implausible Vehicle Speed Signal Recieved. Usually caused during communication between the PCM and ABS module. Should be checked out by the dealer. One could understand how the PCM would get upset if the driver put the shifter in drive but the ABS told the PCM the wheels were moving in reverse. Just curious, was your Jeep parked on a hill at the time? #3 · Jun 21, 2016 Thanks for the response Array. The jeep was parked on a slight incline maybe 20 degrees. #4 · Jun 21, 2016 Was the trailer hooked up too? If so, is it possible the trailer was on the downhill side and caused your Jeep to roll slightly backwards while it was in Drive? That condition might get the PCM upset. #5 · Jun 21, 2016 ABS cannot tell which direction wheels are turning. #6 · Jun 21, 2016 The trailer was not on it. We took it off and broke it down to store in the house during the weekend. #7 · Jun 21, 2016 Please be sure to let us know what diagnostic information you receive from the dealership. Kori Jeep Social Care Specialist #8 · Jun 21, 2016 If the code is active, they will most likely replace the ABS Module. If it is stored, not much can be done. Insert Quotes Post Reply
