    Federal officials say an off-duty ICE agent was responding to an ‘active shooter’ at his Northridge apartment complex when he gunned down Keith Porter Jr. Friends and advocates contend that Porter was not threatening anyone, but shooting a gun in the air to celebrate on New Year’s Eve.

  • Israel Claustro, 47, of Orange County, has been appointed to serve in an interim appointment as a Judge in the Orange County Superior Court. Claustro has served as a Senior Deputy District Attorney and an Assistant Head of Court at the Orange County District Attorney’s Office since 2020, where he has served in several roles since 2002. He served as a Law Clerk at the Orange County District Attorney’s Office from 2001 to 2002. Claustro earned a Juris Doctor degree from the Western State College of Law.

    Israel Claustro agreed Wednesday to plead guilty to one count of mail fraud at his next court date in U.S. Central District Court in Santa Ana. He also resigned his judicial post.
