The user interface, or UI for short, refers to the various on-screen elements and menus through which a player interacts with the game. The UI in FFXIV can be adjusted in myriad ways to ensure an enjoyable gaming experience.

Can I change my chocobo companion's appearance?

The appearance of your chocobo companion can be altered using chocobo barding items. Once these items are used, they can be selected at any time via the Companion menu. Chocobo barding is purely cosmetic, and will have no effect on your companion's attributes.

* When first acquired, chocobo companions will be equipped with barding based on your associated Grand Company.

Obtaining Chocobo Barding

Select a chocobo barding item in your inventory, right-click to open the subcommand menu, then select Use.Chocobo barding can be obtained a number of ways, including the market board, token exchanges, and achievement rewards.

* Using a chocobo barding item will grant you a set of items that can be equipped to your companion's head, body, and legs.

After selecting your companion's barding, summon them and confirm their appearance is to your satisfaction.Mix and match the various bardings available to create the perfect ensemble.

* An icon will appear next to barding, indicating it is equipped. Select equipped barding a second time to unequip it.
