Using A Hot Tub To Cure Your Hangover - Intermountain Aquatech, Inc

Using a Hot Tub to Cure Your Hangover

Going out on the town with your friends seems to be an American tradition, and, as a result, so is the hangover. We all are familiar with the excruciating symptoms: the nausea, the pounding in your head, the empty bank account, and confusion about what exactly happened the night before.   Lucky for you, your hot tub can help ease the symptoms of your terrible hangover.  Use the steps below to use your hot tub to help you recover from your next hangover.

Drink Water To Overcome Hangover Dehydration

The biggest cause of hangover symptoms is dehydration.  Your body works overtime to process the alcohol that you consumed, so the best way to get rid of a hangover is to rehydrate.  Drink a couple of glasses of water or gatorade, and avoid sugary drinks and coffee.  Also, refrain from taking pain medication as they will not help.  Most medications thin your blood, making it more difficult for you to flush out the alcohol from your system.

Soaking In The Hot Tub To Flush Out Alcohol Toxins

Once you have had a glass or two of fluids, take a 15-20 minute soak in your hot tub.  The hot tub will help you relax, but it will also stimulate your circulation.  That will help your body flush out the toxins from the alcohol.  Make sure that you drink plenty of water, as the heat from the hot tub can dehydrate you.  If you want to, put a few drops of peppermint into your hot tub water to use aromatherapy to ease your headache.

Cold Showers Ease Hangover Symptoms

Cold showers, sometimes referred to as  “James Bond Showers,” are a good way to get rid of many hangover symptoms.  As uncomfortable as it sounds, taking a cold shower actually has a lot of health benefits.    Taking a cold shower, especially after you soak in a warm hot tub will increase your circulation and raise your heart rate.  This will also help your body get rid of the toxins from the alcohol.  It will also help you feel more alert, increase your tolerance to stress, and help relieve depression.

Drink More Water

After you have completed the steps below, drink more water to help your body flush out the toxins you gained from drinking alcohol.  Again, make sure that you don’t consume more alcohol or sugary/carbonated drinks, as that can make your hangover worse.  To lessen the effects of a hangover in the future, make sure that you are drinking water alongside your alcohol to help balance out your body.
