The Vault 118 is a DLC Far Harbor Location in the Northeastern area of The Island. It is located to the West of Far Harbor, and Southeast of the National Park Visitor's Center, underneath the Cliff's Edge Hotel.

This location contains 1 locked safe, and 1 special weapon

Layout

The secret Vault 118 is a unique vault built under the Cliff's Edge Hotel, intially planned in part by the owner of the hotel, Ezra Parker - however the vault's true purpose was subverted, and the wealthy patrons who inhabit the vault are now all robobrains.

Arriving in the basement of the Cliff's Edge Hotel, you can check an employee locker room to find several supplies.

Once inside, note that many of the objects here are owned by the people of Vault 118, and getting caught stealing will risk having the entire place turn hostile. In the entryway you can find a brand new Vault 188 Jumpsuit that's free to take. To the left is a hall leading to the parking garage and unfinished wing, where you can find a few supplies that are free to take, as well as a hole in one of the parking spots leading a cave and dead end.

From the main hall with the fountain, you can go right to find a small shop run by Pearl, and the room contains many expensive owned items and an Expert locked safe, while the left end leads to a security room.

The atrium itself contains little other than the crime scene (and the murder weapon, a unique baseball bat - Fencebuster), but there are two residental wings to the North and South. The North wing includes a kitchen, classroom, and two residental rooms. Room 1 belongs to Ezra Parker, and he has an extensive collection of trophies that can be freely looted - including a Pirate Hat, three expensive trinkets behind an expert locked case, three weapons behind another expert locked case, and three clothing items behind an advanced locked case. In his room you can also find the Vault 118 Overseer's Key.

Room 2 belongs to both Keith and Gilda, who share a movie set stage. Keith's room is filled with lifting weights, while Gilda's has a few other items. On the southern wing, the large generator room contains Santiago and his many painting supplies, while the room next door is a wreck. Across from them is the home of Julianna and Bert, and their junk filled room has little, except for the ashes of many pet cats.

The upstairs area contains a hyrdoponics lab of lootable goods, and the locked Overseer's room. The room contains his terminal, but little else.

Additional Notes

The vault was designed for wealthy patrons of the hotel to live out the war in a lavish area, while an experiment was set to usher inseveral hundred "commoners" to live in squalor in the same vault.

However, the wing for the commoners was never built, as the financing stopped, and when the bombs fell, only a few important people entered, and all others were mysteriously locked out. One of the patrons, a scientist for General Atomics, devised a way for the patrons to live out the war by putting their brains in robot bodies, and have survived to this day - waited on by the mechanical staff.
