RTENOTITLE

RTENOTITLE

RTENOTITLE
Evolved from: - Evolves into: Venomoth (at level 31)
Locations: Catch Venonat on Routes 12 and 13 in Blue/Red, Routes 24 and 25 in Yellow, as well as 14 and 15 in all three versions. You can also find Venonat in the Safari Zone in Red/Blue.
This Pokémon naturally learns the following techniques (Blue/Red levels in parentheses):
LV 01 (01) - TackleLV 01 (01) - DisableLV 11 (--) - SupersonicLV 19 (--) - Confusion LV 22 (24) - Poison PowderLV 27 (27) - Leech LifeLV 30 (30) - Stun Spore LV 35 (35) - PsybeamLV 38 (38) - Sleep PowderLV 43 (43) - Psychic
Tips: Poison/Bug types have a lot of problems -- and Venonat was never such a great choice for Red/Blue players in the first place (too weak). But for Pokemon Yellow, Nintendo decided to beef up the little insect by a) letting players catch one at lower levels and b) giving Venonat a few new techniques to learn. A Pokemon Yellow Venonat learns two valuable Psychic techniqes at level 11 and 19, respectively, while the Blue/Red Venonats have to wait till level 35 before they learned their first Psychic attack. Since neither the Bug techniques nor the Poison attacks Venonat learns are really any good, it's a good idea to build up Venonat's Psychic side -- even if this goes against its type. Sadly, as good as Venonat is at low levels, its stats are far too limited to make it a prime Pokemon choice later on (despite the fact that it learns Psychic at level 43).

Here's Venonat's big problem: It's a Bug -- so it should be strong against a Psychic opponent. But it's also a Poison type -- which are weak against Psychic types. Since its strength against Psychic Pokemon is usually a Bug's best virtue, Venonat's dual type nature pretty much ruins it for this otherwise interesting insect. When you're fighting a Venonat, use Fire, Flying, Rock or even Psychic and Bug attacks. If you're using a Venonat in battle yourself, concentrate on status-altering attacks or use it against Poison or Ghost types only.

This Pokémon can learn the following HMs and TMs (gray techniques can only be learned in Yellow):
TM 02 - Razor WindTM 04 - WhirlwindTM 06 - ToxicTM 09 - Take DownTM 10 - Double EdgeTM 20 - Rage TM 21 - Mega DrainTM 22 - Solar BeamTM 29 - PsychicTM 30 - TeleportTM 31 - MimicTM 32 - Double Team TM 33 - ReflectTM 34 - BideTM 44 - RestTM 46 - PsywaveTM 50 - SubstituteHM 04 - Strength
