Vikings is taking a mid-season break on History and Prime Video, and the second half of season six is due to arrive soon. Fans were sad to see the main character Ragnar Lothbrok (played by Travis Fimmel) leave the series in season four after he was thrown into a pit of venomous snakes. Fimmel has explained what he misses most about his time on Vikings as the notorious Viking King.
What does Travis Fimmel miss most about his Vikings role as Ragnar Lothbrok?
Ragnar Lothbrok was one of the best-loved characters from the first four seasons of Vikings, as he was a strong and fearless warrior.

In season four, fans saw Ragnar become a prisoner of King Aelle of Northumbria (Ivan Kaye) and they feared for his future on the series.
Many fans believed the creators would not kill off the main character so soon, and they were shocked when Ragnar was flung into a pit of snakes and left for dead.

Vikings spoilers: Why showrunner cried at Ragnar’s death
He has since taken on the main role in the HBO series Raised By Wolves, in which he plays Marcus.
This role can be considered his biggest since leaving Vikings in 2017, and he explained what he missed most about his part as Ragnar.
He said: "I miss everybody on set. I miss all the Irish people that we got to work with."
The series was shot in Ireland and he said it had been great fun to film with his co-stars.
He continues to have a great relationship with many of his former colleagues, and not too long ago he made a trip to see Alexander Ludwig, who plays his on-screen son Bjorn Ironside.
Ludwig had posted a video of himself with Fimmel, and they went on a helicopter trip together.

Fimmel is also on Instagram and he posted a photo of himself and Ludwig when the latter landed a role in the Bad Boys For Life film.
The photo showed the pair hiding behind a shower curtain, and it said: "I’m a proud father! Congrats to @alexanderludwig on joining the Bad Boys sequel."
Fans went on to praise Fimmel for his portrayal of the real Viking king in the series, and they still miss his character to this day.
The actor spoke to AOL ahead of his final season, saying: "I must be the worst leader in the world because nobody wants to follow me as king.
"As an actor we are just trying to make people relate to us, we do some pretty bad stuff and you really have to make sure you give enough reason for the audience to want to follow you, even though you are doing really bad stuff."

History also shared a video going behind the scenes with Fimmel on the Vikings set, and he explained his character's personal traits.
He said: "Ragnar is very family orientated, he loves his children, his children are the most important thing to him.
"He really wants to help his community out, a lot of his adventures are to improve his community and society."
Fans commented on the video saying how much they missed his character after he died at the hands of King Aella.
One said: "The whole Ragnar dying made me feel like I've actually lost a loved one... love you Ragnar!"
Many fans have gone as far as to boycott the series following the death of Ragnar, claiming the show lost its spark when he died.

They took to social media following Ragnar's death scene, with one saying: "I have not felt this bad for a character death since Stefan Salvatore. Ragnar Lothbrok made me cry like a baby! Enjoy Valhalla, KING! #Vikings."
Fans got emotional when Ragnar's wife Lagertha died and was given a traditional Viking funeral. When her Viking ship was pushed out into the water, her body landed at the bottom of the sea, and fans saw an image of Ragnar in the sand, which indicated Lagertha had been reunited with her husband in Valhalla.

One fan said: "Whoever directed 6x07 episode with Lagertha funeral deserves an Emmy or a Golden Globe. Her entry into Valhalla with the Valchyries and her reunion with Ragnar was very emotional and meaningful. The cinematography is breathless. 'In my dreams we are always together'."
