Villain Deku

Villain Deku is the evil version of Izuku Midoriya from the anime My Hero Academia. His bad ending occurs after an alternate version of events in the first episode.

Usually, he joins the league of villains and uses his knowledge and determination to quickly become one of their key players, though this varies from AU to AU.

Backstory

In the 1st episode of the original anime, we see Deku being bullied by his childhood friend, Katsuki Bakugo, because unlike 80% of the world he doesn’t possess a superpower, or ‘Quirk’. Of course, there’s much more to it than that, which only gets elaborated on later in the anime when we see more of Katsuki’s development. The nickname Deku, that becomes either his hero or villain name later on in the story, was also given to Deku by Bakugo, which roughly translates to useless.

Quirks cannot usually be transferred, unless a Quirk specifically allows it. As far as we know currently, only two individuals have the ability to transfer - and for one of them, take - Quirks.

When walking home after being told to kill himself at school Deku gets attacked by a villain but is saved just in time by All Might; the number one hero and Deku’s idol. He asks All Might if he, someone without a Quirk, could be a hero, which All Might promptly says no to. We then learn the villain had escaped and attacked Katsuki, holding him hostage.

AU’s usually go one of two ways from there. Deku goes through the same events, except when Katsuki is captured by the sludge villain, he doesn’t rush into the battle, which had inspired All Might to transfer his power to him originally. Instead, he watches on. All Might still jumps in to aid Katsuki after seeing his desperate struggle for survival. Sometime later he would be scouted by Shigaraki, the leader of an organization called the league of villains, and thus putting him on the path of villainy.

The second route AU’s usually take is that Deku actually follows Katsuki’s advice, but is saved by the league of villains. Whether he gets a Quirk or not depends, but usually he stays Quirkless, using only his intelligence. If he does get a Quirk it’s given to him by the villain All For One, who is the other individual capable of transferring Quirks.

Appearance

Izuku is usually tall, round face framed by a short mess of fluffy (curly), dark-green hair, which sticks up at odd angles on his head. His main attire is his tuxedo. Or he wears a button-up shirt with long sleeves, covered by a black vest and tie. He also wears black pants and shoes. His eyes are either red and green respectively, or stay the same as before (completely green.)

Personality

Villain Deku has many different variations, but the most common is either a cold, calculating villain who uses infiltration and espionage to stay three steps ahead. He hates any hero or is a psychotic outcast. He has completely forsaken the desire of becoming a hero after being turned down by his idol. He likes to mock and torment heroes and other civilians. Despite his behavior, he is generally kind towards villains. In some more complicated AU’s he could be an unwilling villain or have complex motives to take down the discriminatory and unethical hero society.

Abilities

Villain Deku's powers depend from AU to AU, with the following AUs being the most popular:

  • Quirkless Villain Deku: Izuku doesn't get any quirk, and uses his intelligence instead to obtain information from other heroes. He also can be proficient in martial arts, and/or carrying a support weapon.
  • Quirked Villain Deku: Izuku is awarded a quirk or even more, usually by All For One. Each quirk depends on each AU, mostly to carry out the story.
  • AFO Villain Deku: Possessing All For One's quirk of the same name, Izuku can siphon quirks from heroes, just like All For One himself, with the possibilities of using the abilities he could steal and use is endless.
    • Air Cannon: “Allows the user to fire bursts of typhoon level winds from their palms and soles of feet, with proper practice the quirk can be used to fly. The winds can reach up to 400 KM/H in a constant stream with only 240 KM/H being needed to lift the average weight person off the ground, can charge up a concussive blast in forearm before releasing.”
    • Heavy Payload: “increases any and all action with intent to attack by a large factor. Air Cannon's width and area of effect is enhanced greatly.”
    • EMP:”generates electromagnetic pulses and waves that can knock out electronics on its but when combined with Air Cannon, it ionizes the air and turns it into plasma beam or ball”
    • Regeneration: “user must actively think about healing whichever part of their body they wish to heal when trying to this quirk, it is not a passive ability but the regeneration is fast enough to regrow a limb in an hour, can also be used in conjunction with air cannon to increase the air pressure with strengthened tightly knit muscles.”
    • Hypertrophy: "increases the muscle mass and density of the user by percentages of 10."
    • Kinetikinesis: “upon activation, limbs charge with kinetic energy every second and when released, can be used as a speed booster or strength enhancer, this quirk is being empowered by 4 others. “
    • Springlike Limbs: “coils muscles in a limb that generate explosive force when released, synergistic with kinetikinesis and Air Cannon for expansive leaps and mobility.”

Trivia

  • Credit to A_LO_sang for creating the image used in the infobox.
  • Villain Deku mostly derives from an AU and isn't deeply cemented in My Hero Academia's lore.
    • However, he's become one of the most popular AU's within the MHA Fandom, and is also one of the most viewed pages on the BEF Wiki.
