Barbie's little sister was introduced in 1964.  Many speculate it was an answer to critics who felt Barbie was too mature and "womanly" for their daughters.  Skipper was very well received and very popular.  Skipper and her subsequent friends were 9.25 inches tall, compared to Barbie's 11.5 inches.

Her original wardrobe included ten outfits that all complimented and coordinated with some of her big sister's most popular ensembles.
