VISIT CASWELL COUNTY

AREA INFO

In Caswell, our beautiful rural setting is a wonderful backdrop to have unique experiences.

Home to one of the largest game lands in the state with over 16,000 acres, the R Wayne Bailey Game Lands boasts the state's largest population of wild turkeys.

Local artist Maude Gatewood (1934-2004) called Caswell home. Painting everything as far as her eye could see starting from a young age, she soon became an important artist of the 20th century. Various locations throughout the county showcase her work, including an exhibit in the room of her childhood home at the Richmond-Miles History Museum.

Renowned furniture maker and free Black man, Thomas Day (1801-1864) was an important part of Caswell County history. His small furniture shop in Milton quickly became the largest cabinet shop in North Carolina. Day is an example of entrepreneurs can thrive in Caswell. With support from the community, you can make your dreams a reality. You can see his work in his home-turned-museum in Historic Milton.

Milton is nestled along the Dan River in the northern part of the county. It is a beautiful historic community with a population of just over 150.

We also have many unincorporated communities, including Pelham, Leasburg, Prospect Hill, Providence, Semora, Blanch, and Cherry Grove. These communities are not to be missed as they house treasures of their own.
