Wait, Did Hulk Go Back To Sakaar Before She-Hulk? - Screen Rant

Warning! Spoilers ahead for She-Hulk: Attorney at LawShe-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode 2 saw Bruce Banner, a.k.a. Smart Hulk, going into space, but he may have already returned to Sakaar before the start of his cousin's new show. Based upon some Easter eggs and context clues seen in the first two episodes of the Disney+ MCU series, there is a possibility that the Hulk has actually been to the planet Sakaar a few times between the events of Thor: Ragnarok and She-Hulk.

Sakaar was the planet where the Hulk found himself following the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron. While there, Bruce Banner's greener half did not allow him out for two years, as he became the favored gladiator of the Grandmaster and his Contest of Champions. Once Thor inadvertently made his way to the catch-all world surrounded by wormholes, he found the Hulk and got him to transform back into Bruce. They left Sakaar to help Thor save Asgard from his sister, Hela, and then Bruce went straight from Thor: Ragnarok to Avengers: Infinity War to the five-year Blip before Avengers: Endgame. It was during the five-year Blip that the Hulk integrated both parts of himself and became "Smart Hulk." Also during this time, he might have taken some trips back to Sakaar.

There are a few clues that suggest Bruce has already returned to Sakaar before he was seen traveling through space at the end of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode 2. Firstly, Hulk's beach house/lab in Mexico features his gladiator helmet from the Contest of Champions. While this implies he brought it home, Thor: Ragnarok sees him leaving Sakaar as Bruce only to be sent back to Earth as the Hulk at the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War before Asgard's ship is destroyed by Thanos. As such, the only way for Bruce to have the helmet is if someone brought it to him or if he returned to Sakaar and retrieved it himself during the Blip. Bruce also seems to know a lot about Sakaar, being able to identify the spaceship in She-Hulk episode 1 as a "Sakaaran class-A courier craft." Seeing as how Bruce wasn't allowed to come out during Hulk's two-year period as a champion and he quickly left the planet once he did revert to human form, where did this expertise come from if not from a return trip? Likewise, the Sakaaran ship the Hulk is in at the end of She-Hulk episode 2 looks very personal, with his own workspace featuring books on the shelves. As such, perhaps this is the Hulk's very own ship that he acquired to visit Sakaar every so often.

Why Would Smart Hulk Return To Sakaar?

If all of that is indeed true and Bruce Banner made return trips to Sakaar, then what has he been doing there? While possible, It seems unlikely that he was still fighting in the Contest of Champions as Smart Hulk — though it would be funny if that was his way of blowing off steam. Perhaps Sakaar somehow held the key to his integration? All that was ever said by Bruce was that he spent "six months in a gamma-lab" during the Blip.

In any case, someone from Sakaar was trying to send Bruce a message in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode 1, motivating his current return trip in episode 2 that could be one of many he's taken in the years since Thor: Ragnarok. Likewise, the possibility is strong that Bruce's continued connection to Sakaar will be revealed with a heavily rumored MCU adaptation of World War Hulk, as a series or movie. Either way, fans will have to wait and see what other teases are in store for Bruce/Hulk as She-Hulk: Attorney at Law continues.
