Walking Dead Finally Confirms Return Of Rick Grimes And Michonne

The Walking Dead has finally confirmed the return of Rick Grimes and Michonne in an unexpected way.
Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira surprised their former Walking Dead co-stars during the show's final panel at San Diego Comic-Con International on Friday to make a huge announcement.
The duo were originally supposed to be reprising their roles as Rick and Michonne for multiple feature films that would answer what happened to Rick when he was abducted by the mysterious CRM group.
Instead, Lincoln and Gurira will be starring in a six-episode miniseries in 2023 that will reunite Rick and Michonne to wrap up their storylines once and for all.
"I can't wait to get my cowboy boots back on," Lincoln told an excited Comic-Con crowd.
The Walking Dead Universe's Chief Content Officer Scott M Gimple will be overseeing this untitled limited series, with Lincoln and Gurira both expected to executive produce as well as star.
"This is a moment fans of The Walking Dead have been waiting for since Rick disappeared in the helicopter early in season nine, and Michonne journeyed away on a quest to find him the following season," Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks, said today.

"What a great surprise for the fans at this final Comic-Con for the series that launched this universe and made television history. We couldn't be more excited for a truly epic series finale later this year and to see Andy and Danai return in a new series they helped create, one of three new series coming in 2023 that continue the stories of so many iconic and fan-favorite TWD characters."
There's no telling which other Walking Dead characters may cross over into this limited series, as Daryl is getting his own spin-off and Isle of the Dead will send Maggie and Negan to New York City.
The Walking Dead season 11 airs on AMC in the US and STAR on Disney+ in the UK.
