Walking Dead Star Says Shock Lori Return Would "jump The Shark"

The Walking Dead star Sarah Wayne Callies has responded to a popular fan theory that Lori Grimes is still alive by saying that any return for the character would be 'jumping the shark'.

Lori was killed off midway through season 3 as she gave birth to Judith, but no remains were found when Rick later came across the room she died in.

Speaking on The IMDb Show, Callies downplayed any potential comeback and didn't think her exit in 2012 was left open.

"I think if they did, it wasn't intentional. I really do," she said. "There is no spoiler hidden anywhere in my heart which is like, 'Season 15! It's Lori's time!'.

"If I ever got the call, the show would have jumped the shark so thoroughly... It would be like, '[Scott] Gimple, Angela [Kang], I love you guys. It's time to hang up the zombies'. Like, come on."

Callies also pointed out that nearly all of the cast that she worked with on the show back in season 3 are no longer around in 2020.

"I love those people, but the only people I know involved right now are some of the writers and some of the directors – and Norman [Reedus, who plays Daryl]," she said. "Everybody I know on that show is dead."

The show is nearing the end of its 10th season, but AMC recently confirmed that the season finale broadcast has been postponed, with post-production unable to be completed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The Walking Dead continues on Mondays at 9pm on FOX in the UK. You can also catch up on the show via NOW TV. In the US, the show continues on Sundays at 9/8c on AMC.
