IGN's Metroid Dread complete strategy guide and walkthrough -- enhanced in 2024 with synced checklist trackers and map shortcuts -- will lead you through every step of Metroid Dread from the title screen to the final credits, including every collectible location, boss strategy, and more.

Continuing the 2D saga of Metroid, Metroid 2, Super Metroid, and Metroid Fusion, Metroid Dread is the next chapter in Samus Aran's story. After surviving an encounter with the parasites known as "X", and getting her suit and body infused with Metroid DNA, Samus Aran takes on her latest bounty quest to respond to the disappearance of Federation E.M.M.I. robots on the mysterious planet ZDR, where the X Parasite is rumored to have been spotted.

Like other 2D Metroid adventures, Metroid Dread includes a vast explorable underground world of twisting passages, deadly enemies, and puzzles to be solved by obtaining numerous upgrades to Samus' suit and weapon enhancements. Get started with Essential Tips and Tricks and then use our checklist-enabled Walkthrough and Guide to help you through each area, upgrade, and boss fight you'll encounter - as well as where to find Upgrades and Collectibles in form of Energy Tanks and Missile Tanks. If you just want to read up on a boss, we also assembled a complete list of Metroid Dread Bosses along with tips and videos on how to beat them.

Metroid Dread Walkthrough Sections

IGN's Metroid Dread Walkthrough is presented by region and objective. Although you'll be given an overarching mission when exploring ZDR, a large part of your adventure will be exploring the various regions and finding the next upgrade to your suit - which will expand your exploration and combat abilities. With this in mind, the walkthrough sections below are divided up by the region name and the immediate objective - usually the next upgrade to be found.

When a new objective calls for visiting a previously explored area, our walkthrough will also feature callouts to find hidden upgrades using newly acquired abilities.
